JMM without a doubt. I don't see how anyone could go for Floyd in this disgrace of a match up.
Which part is the disgrace?
The skills?
The marketability?
The size?
I have heard people complain about the "size mismatch". I guess I don't see it. I see in Floyd a guy who is one division bigger than Marquez. That is underscored by the fact that they fought four pounds apart for FIVE YEARS (JMM @ FW from '95-'06; FMJ @ SFW from '96-01). When I look at them next to each other, Floyd looks a little bigger to me.
My guess is that marquez will be about 146-148 on fight night, and Floyd will be 148-150. I dunno if I'd call that some massive mismatch.
Actually, I think a two-year layoff is a bigger disadvantage than moving up one division. Marquez should beat a rusty Mayweather.
You know what I don't get here? This mentality that Marquez is just a little warrior man who is fighting a bigger, technically gifted fighter who lured him up in weight to make a joke fight, and as such we should applaud his bravery and mock or ridicule Floyd.
I like Marquez and I'm not going to be rooting against him, but guys- let's be real for a second. Juan can't get Manny to fight him again just yet. He's busy trying to get the big boys to give him the big fights. He wants to be a welterweight now. So- what mega-money, stardom enducing fights can Marquez snatch that, at his age, can propell him into the place he thinks he belonged all these years when eclipsed by the other Mexicans like Barrera and Morales?
Floyd. Marquez wants the money. He wants the fame. He wants to be Floyd - albeit a nicer version of him. It's not like he was forced to fight.
I don't see why it's disgraceful to root for Floyd. Manny lured Cotto down, Oscar lured Floyd up- boxers chase money and fame and follow the bigger opponent's choice of weight all the time nowadays. It's not just Floyd. Hate the game, eh?

Disgrace of a match up? huh?
Mayweather hasnt fought in 2 years and is coming back facing what many believe to be the #2 P4P fighter in the world,...this is simply another case of a smaller fighter moving up to challenge a bigger fighter. This is a typical trend in the sport of boxing......
That said I think Mayweather will win rather easy.
What I consider to be more disgraceful would be the P4P# 2 figthter in the world getting OWNED by a "runner" who "ducks" other fighters, who has "no power@ ww", and is coming off a "2 year lay off" with a "rib injury"
I'll be rooting for the smaller, older fighter Juan Manuel Marquez.
When JMM was Floyd's age, he was fighting at 126. Floyd at 31 is a natural welterweight, that's why he's forcing JMM to come up in weight. JMM is still a natural feather weight, and only moved up to follow Pacquiao for a big fight. He looked small even compared to the lightweight Juan Diaz.
But I think Mayweather, who has a longer reach than heavyweights Tyson, Marciano and Tua, will win because of his size advantage and younger age. Still, JMM is a great old fighter and nothing is impossible! It would be very good for the sport of boxing if JMM wins.

I have nothing against Marquez as a person, as a boxer, or for anyone rooting for him in this fight. I don't, however, see a Marquez win as good for boxing. Floyd is more of a personality. It doesn't matter if people hate him. He's the one on dancing with the stars, making AT&T commercials, having verbal battles with Brian Kenny that get mega-internet play.
Floyd Mayweather is a guy people love to hate. He makes it so easy. He's going to get people interested in his fights because people want to see him lose.
Mayweather-Pacquiao would be gigantic. Much bigger than another Marquez-Pacquiao fight.
That, in simple economic terms, means a Floyd victory- I believe- is much better for the sport. What is good for boxing is what gets attention and makes money. Not whose a better person, easier to like, or more deserving of the crown. Just who wears it better.
