Give me a Prime Chaves at 135 or 140 over any Mexican. **** Prime Chavez at 135/140 is as good as anybody in the history of boxing.

Gomez vs. Sanchez was the most anticipated PR vs. Mexico rivalry fight and in that fight Sanchez not only pulled thru, he demolished and embarrassed Gomez. Regarding Nelson, it doesn't matter if he was known or not.....Azumah was a great fighter nonetheless and proved it even after getting KOed by Sanchez, he had a golden career after that.

BTW I'm not crazy , JCC has his flaws too. If you think a fighter who fought bums, mediocre competition and fell short when fighting great fighters like Whitaker and Oscar is the number 1 Mexi fighter then so be it.
What he had was Charisma and a cult following but his resume isn't what you'd like to put on number 1. But of course that is my opinion and my list.
respectively JCC was the BEST JR WELTER WEIGHT ever. If you can find a guy that did more damage at that weight I'd like to know.

And it does matter if Nelson was known or not because Sanchez went into this fight as the GREAT CHAMP that did in fact beat GOMEZ and Struggled against this unknown, who because of this fight was loved by fans. In fact Nelson went on to beat the best Bantamweight ever didn't he.

And in conclusion, JCC went up to WW to fight whitaker, and whitaker was just to fast for him. DLH was just that good that young, along with the fact that JCC had been cut in training camp really close to the fight, JCC decided not to cancel the fight which you can only blame him for. The fact that JCC was in his mid 30's had it's impact too, almost everyone agrees that around that time he was already in decline physicaly.

          1)Chavez
          2)Olivares
          3)Sanchez

too many to choose from for a top five
itll take alot more for jmm to make it to 4th
          atleast i think so...

Older Mexicans prefer Ruben Olivares and the younger people like JCC, but then the kids like Morales or MAB or JMM. But if you ask any fighter of the above mentioned they would never say themselves. Oh and some people like to throw in Salvador Sanchez in the mix BUT IMO he has a big question mark next to him because of his really early passing.

For me it would have to be
            1. JCC
            2. Olivares
            3. Morales
            4. Lopez
            5. MAB/JMM but if JMM wins he would be a solid 5
true he did die too soon
but took on and dominated strong opposition

nemisis, you do realize that jmm is skippin up 2 classes right?

you realize that he had only 2 fights at 135 right?

so even with all that AND the fact that he's been robbed IMO ATLEAST twice,

what in the hell would it take for you to consider jmm ATG of mexico?

seriously, no matter how bad people hate (or are just bored) of pbf, and hate on cotto and hate on pac, they're all VERY good fighters...the best of our time.

whats it going to take nem because it sounds like you're top fighters have

always been your top fighters and always will be regardless.

I agree with you statement, if he can beat FM jr, he should be getting up there but then regardless of the winner of cotto/pac, he needs to fight Pac and Cement his greatness, I think a win against Cotto would be really hard for JMM, so hopefully Pac Loses and wants to fight JMM. If Cotto loses, he hit his peak already and is declining, he won't be that GREAT, IMO.

This is hard for me to say because I AM A BIG JMM fan!! I try and go see his fights every time I can, because his technique is beautiful and his heart is gigantic. I just don't believe a win over May would make him the best Mexican ever. Maybe it's because he hasn't finished his career yet???

If he Beats May then beats Pac......
My list would look more like
                1. Chavez
                2. JMM
                3. Olivares
                4. Morales
                5. Lopez

the only way to beat out Chavez is to go back to lightweight and clean house, and I mean clean house!!!
I have been procrastinating in making this video of almost every fight from his fight with Martinez, showing who he fought, their record at that time and rankings, and this video will show all these dumb ass kids that say he fought bums, who are just repeating what others say. Chavez CLEANED HOUSE!!! He did not win championships and then VACATE them to be able to hand pick opponents! The only times he vacated was to go up in weight because he won a higher belt. Chavez is loved because he was a warrior!!! When people think of warriors they think of the likes of Chavez, Morales, Gatti, Tyson, they don't think of guys like Mayweather or Whitaker!!!

YOU HAVE TO RESPECT a fighter who CLEANS house!!!
Also, Chavez was able to clean house because he stayed active, he beat guys that were champs, ex-champs, old timers,#1-down contenders, and sometimes he would have little tune ups. He was even trying to fight the Jr Middleweight Champ Terry Norris when he was in his prime, and Chavez was a Jr Welter. And not to mention JCC did a LOT of Permanent Damage to his opponents.

I feel what you say bro, but I mean, to go up that high in weight against someone like pbf (again, regardless of how boring he may be he's still very skilled) and then to (IF he does) go on and beat the winner of cotto pac would be an amazing feat. I also give JMM a little extra because although I love JCC's stalking, I am amazed at the way JMM fights. boxing in its PUREST form.
