"I busted my hand in the third round"-Nonito Donaire

Exclusive Nonito Donaire Post-Fight Interview: "I busted my hand in the third round"
    August 17, 1:35 AM
    Indianapolis Fight Sports Examiner
    by Dennis "dSource" Guillermo

Donaire simply outclassed the heavier Concepcion and won with scores of 117-111, 115-113, and 116-112.

The fight was not supposed to go the distance as a lot of people predicted a knockout victory for Donaire. In fact, there were moments it seemed that Concepcion had Donaire in trouble. Donaire in his part showed tremendous heart and footwork by slipping and sliding everytime he would look like he was in danger. He also busted Concepcion's left eye early in the fight with his precision counter punching and as the compubox numbers indicated, Donaire's punches always found it's target.

Concepcion who allegedly weighed around 134 pounds during fight night and was 5 pounds overweight during their weigh-ins seemingly enjoyed the advantages of not having to work and dehydrate to hit the 115 weight limit the day before as he seemed more energetic and was able to brush off a lot of Donaire's hard punches. 5 pounds in the lower weight classes is like 20 pounds around the higher weights. Imagine a junior welterweight against a middleweight.

Concepcion though was able to get some success with his jabs, as Donaire had his guard down and left himself open a lot of times during the fight. At the end of the day though, Donaire simply was the better and more talented boxer in the ring and his skills were more than enough to earn him the victory.

It wasn't the best performance I've seen from Donaire but I found out today in my interview that Nonito busted his left hand in the third round, the same left hand that knocked Vic Darchinyan out in 2007. The injury compromised Nonito's fight strategy and was a main reason why he had to use his intelligence and his feet to control the fight.

Go to 7:30 of the vid, that hand is f**ked up. Okay, I'll let Nonito off the hook this time. Now it makes sense why that left hook was virtually non-existant from the 3rd round onwards and the jab too.

See, I'm glad Nonito put this video up. It makes me appreciate PAC even more. you ask why, well, PAC had the same bruising in his first fight with Erika plus the nasty cut and he still fought his heart out!

Nonito is a gifted fighter, but PAC is something else!

**D*mn, Nonito look like an alien with those sunglasses and the way he was sitting on that chair, he looked ******.

Nonito had brittle hands, which i think would not let him
        comin up in weights

It'll be surprising if he come knockin bantamweights in his
        future fights in higher divisions

brittle hands??? He nearly knocked down someone outweighing him by nearly 20lbs on fight night. If the guy had been the same size he would have gone down without any problems to the hand.
