It's entirely possible that Marquez would've tasted canvas for a second time there.

I just didn't score it that way, but I could see other's scoring it 10-7 based on that because I was one of the ones who scored round 8 10-8 for Marquez.

Either way the fight was close as hell, and still would've been close as hell had you credited marquez a 10-8 n the 8th, or Pacquiao a 10-7 in this round.

Love these guys, and I love watching them fight.

I just got done rewatching the entire rematch on youtube and it saddened me a little bit.

Both of these guys are coming towards the end of their career and I think it's quite obvious that there will never be another fighter quite like either of them.

Pacquiao is the Ali of Filipino fighters, and I feel bad for the up and coming ones who are going to end up being compared to him whether they like it or not. I still find myself in disbelief that the little dude I watched thrash Ledwaba has went on to achieve so much in this sport.

Marquez isn't as highly praised as Barrera or Morales, and he'll never be in the same breath as a Chavez or a Sanchez ; but for my money ; I enjoyed watching him more than any of those other guys. I'm a sucker for a good counterpunching technician and I'm going to miss the hell out of him when he's done.

i thought about this before. jmm holding the ropes shouldnt be a basis to give 10-7 but if pac dominated the whole rd plus the kd then it could be scored as 10-7. problem is, jmm was winning the rd til that kd. so my answer to your question is no

Erik Morales had a similar moment in the 2nd Pacquiao fight I believe, when he was off balance and grasped the rope to regain his balance.
