I personally think PWill has a better chance against Calzaghe than anyone in the tournament. I'd pick Joe to school everyone in there, but I also think that PWill would at least defeat most of them.

PWill aint even beatin Pavlik. He would probably have a good chance against Abraham. Just because of size and style.

Kessler fought Joe with a broken hand. To bad Calzaghe wont rematch him. A healthy Kess destroys Joe.

I mean the tournament is compelling as hell, but let's be real about the guys we have in there for a moment....

Taylor? That's a joke in and of itself.

Abraham looked like total ass in his last 2 fights at 160 despite clearly winning them, but he can be a bit of a lazy prick at times and take rounds off ; that wouldn't work against Calzaghe.

Froch would get straight up overwhelmed. Taylor was clearly beating his ass until he gassed like the hindenburg, and Calzaghe never gasses. He would likely pitch a shutout.

Ward and Dirrell are alright but I seriously question their ability to hang with the other men in the tournament on deep level due to their inexperience.

And Kessler is the odds on favorite to sweep it as it is right now, and we all know what Joe did to him already.
You make some good points here. Calzaghe would definitely be favored to win the whole thing.
I think the anti Calzaghe people just dont see it happening. Thats what everyone is pissed off about, same thing as when Floyd retired: people know if they had run the line of contenders somebody would have gotten them.
Its nothing new, though. Mike McCallum probably would have thrown a wrench into the Fab Four back in the 80s, had he been given the chance. Nobody holds that against Leonard, Hearns, Hagles or Duran these days.

I am a Kessler fan but I've always questioned this claim of Kessler with a broken hand against Calzaghe. I remember two days before the fight seeing pics of him going hard on the mitts in the hotel. And even if it is the case Joe went into most of his fights with broken and/or injured hands and still beat everybody.

The only threat out there for Calzaghe is Dawson, no one else.

Calzaghe would leave 6-0 so would Hopkins, they are simply a level above.

Please... it was the US boxing press that whipped up that 'next Tyson' thing not UK journo's, or Calzaghe.

I can't see Calzaghe losing to any of that lot, though, even if he came out of retirement now to fight them. Kessler he has already beaten, Taylor is well past his best, and he would own Froch and Abraham on ring-smarts alone. The only possibles IMHO are Ward and Dirrell.. not because I would expect them to win but because they are undoubtably talented up-and-comers, and we just don't know how good they actually are yet.
