I saw it. Minto was the more active fighter in the first three rounds and landed some big punches, especially in the third. But he couldn't seem to really hurt Holmes, who seems to have a good chin. Donnell has a good jab and took control in the 4th, keeping Minto at a distance for most of the round. Holmes has a 80" to 72" reach advantage and a 4.5" height advantage, and when he used his long jab, it was an effective weapon.

I scored it 39-37 for Minto, with Holmes clearly winning the 4th. I was surprised the fight was stopped because the cut didn't appear to be all that bad (kind of like Nate Campbell's). Holmes camp are appealing the decision because they didn't see a headbutt (neither did I, but it's easy to miss watching on an internet stream).

Neither is a world-class heavyweight, although Minto is aggressive and entertaining. Holmes is too easy to hit with hooks and would have been KOed if Minto had more power. Minto is too small for heavyweight, and comparing him to other small heavyweights, he doesn't have Chamber's defensive skills and counterpunching ability, nor Boytsov's power. He should go down to cruiser where he might be a top contender.

I saw the fight and what failed to see was the clashing of heads. It was totally a pro Minto production from the announcers to the doctor who stopped. What did the doctor say to Minto? "This is your only shot at winning kid, I'm stopping the fight now "cause you're getting tired and Donnell is waiting for the later rounds"
Black eye for boxing! Love to see the replay of any head butt. You can bet that Holmes' camp will likely appeal this fight and ask for a no decision. I don't think anyone that watched the fight would argue that a re-fight is in order.
