It is a marketing ploy, you're right. Its the same as the 4 million dollar offer and the 8 million offered to Floyd.

      You guys are crazy.

In terms of payday and recognizable names you can throw Winky and obviously Margarito who no one wanted to fight.

But his toughest scrap was with Walter Matthysse, the guy came in undefeated with 26 wins 25 by knockout, he even hurt Williams at the 1st round or 2nd not sure which one again, Williams had to overwork him and basically couldn't stop him, he lost cause he ran out of gas.

Oh I see this is bait thread for me LOL. You don't like Williams because he beat Margarito. And Margarito had been busting up every fighter he faced prior to the Williams fight. Margarito and Wright are probably his biggest wins. Wright was past his prime and inactive but still a major force and had never been dominated like that. Phillips was a also good win not so much because he beat him. But because he stopped him. Phillips has not been stopped since his 5th pro fight. Before you say anything, I'm not claiming that Phillips was a great fighter. But he has always been a solid contender at 154 who did beat Cory Spinks and won 4 in a row before the Williams fight.. Knocking out Quintana decisively in a rematch was impressive. Now if he beats Pavlik are you going to still ask these questions or give him the credit that you never do? And I have never said Williams was unbeatable or the most feared so don't go that route either. With that I don't understand your motive other than you don't like Williams.

Williams set a pace that Waletr couldnt keep...and when walter realized those bombs werent putting down Williams he blew his load and ran out of gas..as Williams cruised to an easy UD.
