Well Bernard said earlier in the year he wouldn't fight Dawson and plenty on here thought Dawson was too much for him...
Bernard did say he wouldn't fight him earlier this year I believe...I think its cuz of money tho...
Hopkins did say a few weeks ago he's willing to fight the winner of the johnson/dawson
Hopkins said he also wants a payday in his last fight and the truth of the matter is dawson isn't a draw at all (check ticket sales). Hopkins will probably fight adamek instead, and you cant blame him because it would be his third lineal title in as many weight classes and adamek does have a pretty good following.
With that said, if hopkins doesn't show his age, he will school dawson. The only way I can see him losing is if he's sluggish and has no stamina.
Crazy how 1 fight changes everything. He was done after joe but now he's god after kelly. Mosley had 0 left after cotto beat him but now he's god after beating tony
The Taylor Hopkins fought honestly seemed to be less vulnerable than Dawson. I mean Dawson has been on the verge of gettign Koed already against a man who is not that good.
I agree with the part of your post that we never really saw any vulnerability in Taylor at the time he was rising through the ranks. But to be fair to Chad, Johnson is a way better fighter than all the guys Taylor beat before he got his shots at B-Hop. But as far as a match up between Hopkins and Dawson goes, I can't picture anything else but a wipe out victory for Hopkins. Dawson is such a sucker for straight right hands down the pipe. Another thing about the Taylor aspect is that the only time that he appeared hurt in his career before he fought Hopkins was when he was buzzed by Daniel Eduard. Dawson has been on skid row with that chin before. So I have to agree about that.
Why do you think Dawson would beat B-Hop? I think B-Hop would take em...
Dawson has faster hands and is younger and a better workrate(although he didn't do **** late against Tarver) but he's never faced a crafty sneaky veteran like Bernard who can take your best weapon away...
Thoughts?
wish some people would see things for what they are. b-hop being able to take away an opponents best weapon is bull****. this is a myth which old Nard has started all on his own.
taking away a fighters left hook (i.e. DLH, tito) is not hard, you circle to your right and stay away from the left hand. vice versa with the straight right (i.e. pavlik) you circle to your left and make sure the guy doesn't set his feet to shoot, again this isn't hard.
these are the skills and nuances that good fighters know, practice and some of the better fighters (i.e b-hop) fighters around have mastered them.
anyways to those claiming that b-hop takes an opponents greatest strength and turn it against them - let me ask? did he neutralize JT's or RJJ's speed or athleticism through timing? No. Did he negate calzaghes workrate by slowing calz down, going to the body or surprsing calz when he came forward with the uppercut? again the answer is no.
anyways as for hop vs dawson; intially i thought b-hop would UD dawson. dawson has stamina issures, he takes rounds off and has to constantly be told not to lose focus. plus he was buzzed by johnson with a right hand (b-hops counter straight right is his best punch) and b-hop seems to have mastered fighting southpaws. it all added up to one thing b-hop by UD.
then b-hop came out and said he would never fight dawson, saying he didn't want to 'ruin the future of american boxing blah blah blah'. b-hop didn't want no piece of dawson and imo this was a blatant duck.
now this got me thinking - yes dawson has stamina issues but would b-hop really force dawson into a high octane, fast paced fight? then there is the speed issue, b-hop has always struggled against quicker fighters and for all his skills he still hasn't learned the art of timing his punches against quicker foes. then theres dawson's size as well and in the end i thought dawson would be simply too quick for hopkins and would UD him.
Can Hopkins beat anyone who throws lots of punches? All Dawson has to do is let his hands go to win this fight. We all saw how pathetic Hopkins looked by about round 10 of the Calzaghe fight and those weren't even damaging punches. He's just an old man who can't deal with combinations anymore.

He started timing JT in the second half of the fight and began schooling him...
