We've all heard the stories about his potential and how during his short career he hanged the first losses to both perennial title contender Tua and future world champ Byrd. And of course we've heard the stories of buffet lines, bird flu and mountain goats. But where does Ike rank in terms of hws of the past 20 years? Did a future ATG beat himself or did the medical boards fail him by not diagnosing his condition correctly? If Ike never went to prison could he have been the Tyson type fighter of the new millennium or would Lewis have ended his hopes? Or was he always doomed to fail because of his medical condition that reports say worsened with each passing fight.

Thinking he would be a champ until he met up with a motivated Lennox Lewis. We've all heard the stories about his potential and how during his short career he hanged the first losses to both perennial title contender Tua and future world champ Byrd. Lewis was a terrific fighter and he too, at times was considered boring but that man could crack and if he was jabbing and jabbing regularly in a fight, he was basically unbeatable in his era.
Sometimes he mailed it in though, and paid the price a couple of times.
Ike may have caught him but 8 out of 10 Lewis would get him.Comment

I never heard anything about his medical condition. Is he still in jail?
As for the next great thing, yes I feel he may well have been just that, another Liston/Foreman type on the radar to inject some buzz into the game.
The man had fast hands, a solid chin and great power. He may well have beaten Lewis as well as the Klitschkos. A real missed opportunity!!Comment

I heard the man was a fruitcake job proper off his head
Said he saw demons in his hotel room.**** that might have been Arum getting him to sign something...
Didnt he have 1 decent win and that was the Tuaman?
Hard to say what he could of become....Comment

I think ultimately it would have come down to Lewis-Ike if Ike lived up to his potential with possiblely the only era in boxing to threaten Ali's in terms of competition and talent.
I think Lewis would have come out on top in the end though.Comment

He knock Byrd out when he was in his prime as a defensive master had him dribbling in the ring...
Unreal workrate for a HW him and Tua set the record for most punches in a HW fight counted by compubox and he had a good punch.Comment
-
Ike might have beaten Lewis he averaged something like 70+ punches a round. The average hw is around high 40s low 50s. His workrate alone would have given him fits.Comment

I believe Ibeabuchi was a very good fighter, incredible physical specimen and would have reached the top of the HW ranking s altough I think Lewis would have beat him.
But he is a well known headcase and will get out at 39 at least so he ie done most likely.Comment
