James Toney beat Ruiz more emphatically than Roy Jones.

Ok, if we're comparing RJJ and Toney to today's heavyweights in terms of sheer skill, it's not even close, but I thought the purpose of this topic was to argue that Toney > RJJ

    I obviously disagree

And steroids make you slower and more lethargic? You mean like Ben Johnson, when he broke the world record in the 100m?
Read the thread closely. It clearly states Jones > Toney. You seem to love my threads Jim, but you do sound like a man who is fresh off a divorce.

Also the medication Toney took was meant to build up muscle to repair an injury. Not the type of performance enhancer a sprinter would want to take.

Read my thread carefully. it says Jones > Toney. I really can not make it anymore obvious than that.

Yeah I saw that, but what is the main topic of the thread? Seems to me like if that's what you wanted to prove, you would've talked about how Roy f'd up Toney, and not compare how they did against Ruiz.

I stand corrected. But when any athlete gets caught using steroids, it's always for an injury. Look at Toney in the Holyfield fight, that mofo was juicing.

And damn, you edited that sht twice, if you want to know if I'm single, just ask.

I'm comparing how both fared at HW against a common opponent not a P4P comparison. Also there is no need to attempt probing me for certain responses the thread clearly states that Jones is better than Toney overall, but that one seemed to fare better in the higher weights. You should take the thread for what it is, and what the words suggest instead of trying to discover a non existent cryptic message.

                  ............

Toney seriously looked great in that fight, and was in phenomenal shape for his standards. His style was also all wrong for him.

Lol. No really, my bad on misreading your opening post. Just one of my pet peeves when people try to use similar opponent performances or triangle theory to determine who is better or who wins.

My dad takes a steroid to keep from getting gout. And it's entirely possible Toney does the same. But for real, steroids can make you stronger and faster.

That fight against Holyfield does make me question whether Roy could've beat James at HW though. Though I think a younger Evander beats them both.

Wasn't Holy getting "supplements" from balco a few years back. I remember the whole Evan Fields story.
