I have nothing but respect for the Klitchkos and I think they are great... But if you wanna be real, the dominate black heavyweight presence has diminished due to basketball and football... I was born in Los Angeles in the late 80's and I can tell you this, black kids growing up in the late eights and 90's did not give a **** about boxing, it was either basketball or football... I can also say that alot of people didnt wrestle just because of the hoods ****phobia mentality, though that might seem wierd we'd see two guys on the floor wrestling and immedietly view it as, "eww that's gay"... In conclusion im a black male in his 20's and my generation didnt care nothing about boxing and you couldnt even find a boxing gym if you wanted to... Immagine if Lebron James was breed to be a boxer, man the Klitchkos wouldnt have a chance LOL
Why are non-whites so poor in wrestling ??

I can't speak for the blacks, but everywhere I've ever lived (which always had a big Hispanic population) there has been a huge amount of participation in wrestling programs among Hispanics. In fact, all of the top wrestlers in my area are Hispanic, and the majority of them win state titles on a consistent basis. I'd say around here the participation is well over half Hispanic, with the rest being white. That could just be because of the large number of Hispanics living here I guess.
Then you have boxing, which is about 80 percent Hispanic, 15 percent black and 5 percent white (the African-American population isn't that big here.)
Wrestling is much-more accesible to young people here, with every high school and junior high having a program, and all the programs for the younger kids. Whereas boxing still thrives pretty good in the area, there's only about ten gyms/clubs in the whole Valley...for 250,000 people.Comment

I agree with the first part of your response, and again, it goes back to what I posted earlier, wrestling generally does not appeal to the non-white Americans.
As for the second portion of your response, I disagree with you. Because wrestling in America is everywhere . Majority of high schools have wrestling programs, alot of junior colleges have wrestling programs, and of course the state and private universities offer it as well.
So, there's no lack of wrestling teams in our school district, but, if you look in those schools, guess who participates, the white kids mostly!
I don't understand what you disagree about in the 2nd part of my post. The rugby reference is trying to point that it is not a very popular sport in the US as opposed to other countries. Hence, the reason why there are virtually no professional American Rugby players.
Not saying anything at all about it being accessible to Americans in schools.Comment

I live in Chicago, IL and the top wrestling program since the 90's has been the HARVEY TWISTERS. That program is based out of Harvey, IL (da hood) and it's predominately BLACK.
They produced ALL AMERICANS like TJ Williams, Tony Davis, TJ Dantzler, Joe Williams, Dave Douglas, etc... and almost all those guys were 4 time HS state champs.
Joe Williams won a Olympic Gold Medal. He's one of the best wrestlers to ever wrestle for Dan Gable and the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Like I said, Illinois is one of the top wrestling cities in the world, yet it's a black wrestling team that continues to dominate year after year.
Please do a lil research before you make ill informed threads like this.
