Exactly. He needs exposure, a Montiel fight would be amazing.

As always, great article by Cliff except nobody caught that Rafael Concepcion isn't Mexican, he's Panamanian.

... and for all my Pinoy homies out there who's saying Nonito can go as high up as a welterweight, let's not carried away here. Pacman is a once in a lifetime boxer, who went thru weight divisions like he was doing the Way of the Cross. This isn't a common occurrence in boxing, were we get to witness every 5 or 10 years. Nonito's body mass isn't built for welterweight, and the highest he will probably go is 126, or maybe a few fights at super featherweight (which I highly doubt) at the tail end of his career.

Good enough if Donaire could conquer until Light Weight. He doesn't need to emulate Pacman to become great, because Pacman is phenominal!

He seems more like a guy who will fight anyone at any time which I like.
Donaire can't go Pac's route anyways because there aren't enough dollars to do that, so he's going to have to fight the top guys to make any money at all in the future.

Pac's decision to fight Morales a third time and Barrera a second time were purely financial, and you can hardly blame him for making millions against them then thousands against the champs when moving up.

Donaire doesn't have big money options.

That's kind of a good thing for us, that the little guys get paid less because then it's easier to make a fight between two lower division stars usually.

              I personally would love a Donaire-Montiel fight.

I'm a Filipino but I don't like the way Donaire fights. He is one pretentious boxer who drop his left hand as if to say he's smart. I don't like that. He names himself 'flash' but I don't see him fight fast like Pacquiao. He is one arrogant Fil-Am who left his father for Rachel Donaire - a person with questionable character.

Of course Donaire will win this fight! Because he's fighting a wimp! If he doesn't knock Concepcion out in 2 rounds, then it would only mean one thing - HE IS OVERATED!
Can you rate Banal? Did you watch the Banal Concepcion fight? It was an ugly fight showing that Concepcion can be a dirty fighter. IMO, donaire KO's him late because of some of the dirty tactics used by concepcion. Who of the current class of Pinoy fighters would you rather watch ( except Pac )?

Besides who are we to question his motives for leaving his father. We do not know all the sides. He is a grown up. Whatever reasons he have, he'll have justified it himself. All his interviews that I saw, I can say he is a confident man not arrogant. An assertive man not an aggresive one. I know that this is purely subjective but what he does in the ring is not. Let us just stick to his business in the ring.

Overrated is not the term I would describe Donaire. That is what I would describe Banal and Bautista. Highly touted prospects that were knocked down on title fights. Donaire was not rated that high when he got his world title but you saw what he did there. Donaire already has 4 title fights and won all those. Plus, his recognition on the P4P lists is a signal of greatness.
