Well, you know, Ike was known as having suspect whiskers. Just thought I'd bring this up since it seems like such a Quartey blowout.

He was down twice against Oscar. And I don't know if you all remember his fight with Jose Luis Lopez. Lopez also dropped him twice and earned a draw with the knockdowns. Fernando had him hurt as well. If Cotto is as vicious a puncher as everyone makes him out to be, well we might never know...

Quartey was in his prime around 1996, not 1999.

When he was fighting bums? Just cuz he doesn't have the same success against elite fighters (1999) that he had against bums (1996) doesn't mean he is no longer in his prime...

since when does getting dropped by a prime DLH left hook mean u have a weak chin?

he wasnt even hurt it was just flash KDs. cotto isnt half the puncher DLH or forrest were anyways.

no way cotto beats him, we all know he doesnt do well moving backwards. quartey beat him but gave the fight away, and margarito stopped him. quartey would do the same. good jab, great defense, very strong.. he would walk cotto down and take him out in the late rounds. only the dumbest cotto fans could see it otherwise, quartey would be his worst nightmare.

Bad, bad match up for Cotto. Quartey can out box him and out muscle him. He had too much power and was a very good pressure fighter when he needed to be. Quartey by KO....

Azumah Nelson, another Ghanna fighter, would have wooped them both.

Ike was a stud tho in his prime.

geez christ you hate you some cotto.

it HAS to be because a PR fighter is going to be the one to derail manny and not a mexican one.

                  you're a ****en lame bro.

to validate this **** thread - ike would have given cotto all sorts of hell but maybe it ends up in the same gift decision way that odlh was given against the man.

Quartey was a monster at 147, his jab and defense were great but he was open for the left hook when he threw his right DLH got him and Vargas landed some too, I think Cotto left drops Quartey giving the nod in a close decision victory.
