The key for Pavlik is to time his 1,2 combos to the head while Williams throws his bazillion punches, then go to the body.Williams lack of defense is what Pavlik needs to focus on and exploit....and he needs to give Williams distance.I believe Williams fights better in close than at a distance, despite his freakish arm span.
Williams has to move to his right, Pavlik's left, Pavlik's front foot is normally pointed to his left, not straight at his opponents as it should be and it keeps him from being able to shoot his right hand across his body to his left side effectively, which is what Hopkins took advantage of. Williams has to be careful not to move into Pavlik's right hand.

Pavlik needs to develop a left hook, I've been saying this for a while now, he'd be much more devastating if he mixes in a left hook into his arsenal, it would allow him to cut off the ring better when opponents move to his left and it would maneuver opponents into his right hand but so far he's still too dependent on the right hand.

Pavlik is more of a grinding puncher, wears you down with his power before stopping you, can he do this to Williams? I don't know but 1 thing is for sure, Williams has not been hit with the type of power he will be hit with, grinding puncher or not, Pavlik is a heavy handed dude.

Pavlik isn't really a body puncher even though he's effective when he does go to the body, he just doesn't do it much, I don't think it'll change up much for this fight, of course body shots would help him wear Williams down but I just doubt he'll throw too many of them.

He needs to keep Williams at his distance, at the end of his jab to get the range for the right hand. He can't let Williams dictate the range of this fight, he can't let Williams stand outside when he wants to and get inside when he wants to. So establishing his jab will be very significant for Pavlik, as I said, he can use it to establish his range to get his punches off and to throw Williams' rhythm off which would lower the workrate of Williams. He should tie Williams up on the inside, Williams is the better inside fighter, lean on Williams in the clinches, push him around a little bit, put those lessons he learned against Hopkins to good use because this will be the biggest guy Williams has fought, Pavlik has to use that to his advantage.

Pavlik will also have to cut off the ring better than he has in the past as well.

pretty much what I said, good call.I have always believed he needs to gather more punches into his game- like hooks and the odd uppercut. He needs to bend his knees and move side to side as well....all in all,he needs to ditch Jack Leow and realize that his loyalty may be the end of his career.Leow cannot show him anything else,he did a top job getting him this far....

Pavlik has nothing for Williams. His only chance is to time him coming in and if he can't rock Paul he loses. That's the only thing that will keep Will off his game.

Williams is the future of American boxing. Mayweather would rather rather lick the balls of Arum that face Williams at 147.
