Now perhaps Universum/Spotlight will give Gennady Golovkin a title fight so they can still have a middleweight champion, since they've losing their popular German fighter.

Was he sick of fighting mandatories and nobodies for most of his professional career?

Sturm was just a little bit german than Abraham.

          Neither are really german.

His official stats have him born in Germany but I understand he was born in Bosnia. His parents are bosnian anyway so he ain't 100% german.

              Abraham is armenian.

              Golo is kazakh.

Felix Sturm is a German, he was born in Leverkusen, Germany.

Abraham is a German citizen, although he was born in Armenia.

Golovkin is not, he just moved to Germany a few years ago when he signed with Spotlight (Universum's partner company, run by Kohl's son-in-law).

Abraham has german citizenship but he is still armenian.

Universum, through Spotlight, already has another middleweight "champion" lined up. German Sebastian "Huggy" Zbik pulled a John Ruiz and hugged his way to a hometown decision for the interim WBC middleweight title last month. Pavlik won't fight Huggy because Zbik won't leave Germany and nobody in the U.S. will pay to see Pavlik KO him. So eventually Zbik will become full champion when Pavlik gives up the belt
