Do you think a big boxing card could sell out in philly

Obviously recently UFC 101 was in philly and got rave reviews and held the highest gate in wachovia center's history.

If boxing promoters decided to actually ever hold a mega fight outside of vegas and atlantic city like ufc did do you think it could go down as well as the UFC card went?

Philly has produced some of the best most courageous boxers ever. It would no doubt sell out any stadium

Philly and boxing are slowly becoming more and more separated, maybe if promoters every once in a while held a title fight in philly it would still be a prominent sport in the city.

I live in philly and the way people were talking about ufc when it was in town i have never heard before.. boxing is really missing that kind of fan base

        Yes sir

I remember Mosley vs Forrest 2 was a sellout in Indanapolis. The black expo was that day. So it was a smart move.

I also don't understand why boxing isn't in Chicago that much.

Hopkins could sell out the Wachovia Center masurbating.

Any Pacquiao, Mayweather, Cotto, or Mosley fight against a decent oponent would also sell out there.

And boxing has had success this year away from Vegas and AC. Margarito vs Mosley set the attendance record at the Staples Center with over 20,000 people. Ward vs Kessler will sell out the Oracle in Oakland (around 20,000) if they put on a good undercard. Adamek could sell out the United Center in Chicago (over 20,000). Arreola vs Klitschko will sell out the Staples Center (over 20,000).

People may not realize it unless they were actually in the audience but I was at Hopkins/Pavlik and I thought I would feel like I was in Youngstown. It may not have been a full blown Philly crowd but it felt about 60/40% - Pavlik/Hopkins in terms of support. Which is way more than I expected from the Hop fans. I was expecting a hardcore Pavlik audience. So if Hopkins could draw that to Boardwalk Hall and there not even be a tremendous buzz about his support. I bet a Philly card in Philly could kill.
