people say JT has bever been hurt in a fight.

Jones nearly got him out of there on 2 or 3 occasions. I'm not talking about the off balanced KD in rd. 3, however a little later in that roiund he was genuinely hurt

toney has been hurt but not badly. i think he has a great chin but it will be severley tested at heavy. i just dont see james winning any titles there unless he fights brewster and maybe byrd but byrd is just as slick as toney is.

the weight contributed to it being so lopsided, but make no mistake roy would always beat james imo. you cant counter that kind of speed consistantly . and this is coming from a huge toney fan its just a bad style for any counter puncher to deal with .

          I think it was

James Toney has always had the reputation of having problems with his walk around weight between fights, he used to blow up and then drain himself trying to make weight. IMHO this was pretty evident against Roy Jones Jr. In their fight, Roy was Roy, but Toney was nowhere near the fighter he had shown to be leading up to their bout. He fought like he was wearing boots in the mud and could not pull the trigger all night. Maybe it was because he was in with Roy Jones, but i think most people expected more out of Toney. But i look at it this way, even with James at his presumed worst, Roy (at his presumed best, at the time) still couldnt do much with Toney.

The weight issue with james is a fact. Since winning the title from Nunn James began balloning up between fights. We were fighting out of the same stable back then and James would have to dry out for weeks it would seem to make the middleweight limit. An example of this affecting him before the Jones fight would be the David Tiberi fight, frankly james looked shot in that fight, he simply looked like ****. To the observer that did not know the circumstances he would say that Toney was garbage. but James is not garbage in any way. The weight loss had him drained before the fight even began and to James' credit he worked through it. Watch the Glen Wolfe fight and you will see the same thing.

The weight loss did take its toll on James in the Jones fight. Would James have beaten him other wise, I dont believe so. Jones is a great counterpuncher with excellent feet and head movement aswell as hand speed. James will always do his best against a guy coming forward but make james have to go looking for a guy and its a different story.....Rockin'

Complete and utter bull****. TONEY NEVER was hurt in that fight.

Tell me the time left in each round where Toney was "almost out of there". Tell me when he got hurt in the RJJ fight? You said 3 times...LET us all know when he was almost KTFO'ed...

              Stop making **** up, loser.

To the original poster....YES Toney was extremely sluggish in that fight and slow on countering. Just looking at his other fights makes it exceedingly clear, even so, an in shape Toney probably still loses to RJJ at that point in their respective career...the fight just would haven been a lot closer.

I seen some of that fight, not all of it, but from what I saw Jones was just schooling him, not really rocking him..

I've seen the fight a million times...please I'd like the rounds and times when Toney was, "almost outta there". He was NEVER hurt in that fight.

Exactly oldgringo. Sounds like DRH never even saw the fight that's why he ran from the thread.

I hate when people lie to make points.
