calzaghe isnt one of the best southpaws around. he sloppy. he comes in throwing wide punches without any power on em all squared up. BHop and roys reflexes were shot and the still tagged him. BHop tagged him at will early in the fight. a prime jones who isnt scared of the punching power of ivan calderon would set joe up, counter him, and put him to sleep. its not even up for discussion. ppl would be betting on weather or not he managed to break a sweat.

joe squared up too much for his southpaw stance to really bother roy, and hes sloppy. u can throw a right hand in your sleep and u will hit calzaghe somehow. he fought C level fighters most of his career so he got away with it. even hopkins with shot reflexes tagged him at will with straight rights. and all thats not mentioning jones in his prime was simply a few notches above calzaghe, roy would walk all over him.

Calzaghe was out of his prime by years and old as **** too!!!!!!

A prime Calzaghe would of been the same problem for a prime RJJ. And Calzaghe in his prime had a lot of power too!!!

Calzaghe is simply all wrong for Roy!!!!!!!!

No Way. Prime Roy can beat a heavy weight. Prime Roy has never been beaten. Actually Prime Roy never had a close fight. Joe would have gotten dismantled by Roy in his prime. Go look at the footage, Roy was a killer, Remember Roy had already been KO'd twice before Joe beat him. Glen and Tarver beat him worse two years earlier. Prime Roy dominated everyone he fought all the way up to a heavyweight champ. Joe would have gotten dominated too by Roy. 10-2 at best. Joe had way more in the tank than Roy when they fought. Please.

Never lose your punch as the say, in Roys case never lose the forearm smash.

If anything the 1st round showed us Roy would never have stopped Calzaghe.

I like the way he mocked Roy Jones, who for so many years mocked opponents with his game**** moves and stuff.

The gash over Roy's eye gave me an erection.

Exactly...People forget or don't want to admit just how fast and powerful Roy was. And untouchable. It would have looked like that Sylva fight saturday.

That's even more to Roy's credit, he put Joe down with a partial shot. It wasn't even on the money. Let's not act like that forearm sht was intentional.

I find comments like this a shame from any fighter, because it's avoiding manning up, accepting the truth and responsibility.

Trainers can do quite a bit for boxers these days, but they can't get in there with you and make you punch differently and tag the guy for you. That's what Roy would have needed.

Roy's now used his dad being in the corner as an excuse for losing, and now as an excuse for losing because he wasn't in the corner.

No what Jones needed was for Calzaghe to stop playing hide and seek when Jones was P4P KING. The result would have been entirely different than what we "finally" got.

On the flip side what Jones needed was a friendly attitude towards the media. Its also nice that he's giving credit to his father more openly now. It wouldn't have mattered if his dad was in the corner or not. Jones didn't have the legs to fight the fight he needed to win.
