I agree, Castillo can pick off punches while walking inside, he takes punches better, cuts less, throws more, and has a better chin.

Cotto is a better fighter overall though and Floyd still needs to fight him Mosley or Margarito to get respect.

castillo was the #1 fighter in his division for several years.

cotto has NEVER been the #1 guy in his division.

Mosley is a better boxer then Cotto, with Nasim in his corner even at 38 Mosley would most likely beat him..

Cotto would not beat Floyd either i agree, wide UD to Floyd, Castillo who shuts down the ring better then Cotto couldn't do it, with Floyds injured shoulder how does Cotto?

Cotto might be past his prime, mentally more than physically the Margarito beating took a lot out of him. There were moments in the Clottey fight where it looked like he was very close to quiting(altough I don't like the word). Many people(myself included) thought he lost the fight anyway.
But in the Mosley fight Shnae first tried to stand toe to toe, then boxed and then in the latter parts Cotto boxed. It was a very dinamic parts.Shane tried 3 gameplans in that fight.

I think the point is that they are different fighters, which should be pretty clear and what happeaned in the first JLC fight would not be replicated by Cotto.
Cotto and Castillo are different fighters and maybe Castillo was a tad better in his prime.

Castillo fought a whole lot better version of Mayweather at 135 than the 147 version.

Only similiarity I see really is the body punching. Cotto moves slow on his feet..add in the fact Castillo had better handspeed. Cotto is passive in the later rounds(recently at least)...Castillo kept the pressure on until the 12th.

cotto can't beat floyd. cotto gases and floyd doesn't. cotto defense is leaky, floyd's isn't.

cotto doesn't have the volume to outwork floyd.

cotto doesn't have the one-punch KO power to hurt floyd in a few shots.

                      cotto is not relentless enough.

cotto's footwork is not good enough.

simply put, cotto doesn't have enough to beat floyd.

that said, floyd needs to actually fight cotto to get credit. floyd can't win fights on paper, he needs to do it in the ring.
