So u know cotto better than himself and his nutritionist?
Nope, but I do know boxing, I do know nutrition and what human bodies are capable of.
And u don't think cotto and his team haven't already considered this? U insinuating that cotto and his team are a bunch of amatuers?
Ofcourse they did, and they took the risk, but as I said, they are not in control. Anyway, it's a strawman's argument, to use cotto's agreement to the fight terms as his confidence in his own victory.
I'm pretty sure roach is trying to protect his boxer from a huge WW too
Cotto is not a huge welterweight, in fact he was a 140 pounder just a couple of years ago. He is maybe half an inch taller then Pacman and is a smallish welterweight by even the standards of the 40s and 50s.
Who's got the bigger disadvantage: cotto weighing in 1 lbs kless than he did against clottey, or pac giving up 10+ lbs to cotto on fight night?
I am gonna put it this way, I would rather fight a guy who is 10 pounds heavier then me and half an inch taller when I am at my absolute best then fight a guy who is 10 pounds smaller then me when I feel sick.
This argument goes even further for fighters at the elite level, where every possible variable can win you or lose you a fight.Comment

This whole catchweight thing is a non-issue. Even at a catchweight of 145lbs if the title is on the line Cotto will weigh in at 147. All the haters will look ******ed. They are not going to cancel the fight because of 2lbs. Pacquiao will win anyway. If Cotto were to come in at 147lbs and the title is not on the line when Pacquiao beats him then his championship status will be completely hollow.Comment

1) cotto and his trainer's specific knowledge of cotto's physiology > your general boxing knowledge
2) u act like cotto is not in control. Cotto can walk away from the fight at anytime. The contract has yet 2 be sign as far as I know. He can even fake a back or rib injury to get out of the fight.
3) cotto is a huge WW. He is not tall but he is very strong. He bodyslammed clottey like a rag doll and clottey is huge and can weigh up to 170 lbs on fight night.
4) there's a reason why there are weight divisions. 10+ lbs on fight night is a huge advantage compared to losing 1 lbs in the weigh in.
5) at the elite level 10+ lbs on fight night is a death wish compared to losing 1 lbs at the weigh in.Comment

Annie was right though, all the real discussion is left in team classic, this place's only good to start a flame war.Comment

you just threw a couple of cliches, that are mostly not even backed by real facts.
I am especially twisting at the point about Cotto's size.
Next thing I hear Mike Tyson actually outsized Lennox Lewis because he was more muscular.
Anyway stop relying so much on what other people say, especially in boxing.
