And there guys the notion that a Boxer would not be able to hack it in MMA. Silva just demolished Griffen with basic boxing skills.

You see the look on Forrests face when Silva moved his head? He was like... wtf, you mean you are allowed to move your head out of the way of punches?

That was embarrasing. Seriously what a terrible fight. If this is a so called great fight then like Floyd said it doesn't take much other there does it.

I try not to get caught up in the Boxing vs MMA kick, but we DID see Boxing skills beat a good MMA fighter in Forrest Griffen...

I am actually a fan of both (is that a crime?) and respect any fighter who trains and fights in a ring...

However, Silva knowing that Jones was showing up or watch went in to pull a Roy Jones himself...

What was interesting was how everyone acted "WOW, that THAT'S skill"...but Roy Jones Jr (and other talented boxers) has been doing that for years

Not much at all. Griffin, while one hell of a guy, he isn't too hard to find. Jones would not only be way more elusive, he would be too accurate for a guy in MMA to deal with. Jones by KO..................easily.

Yea, and did you notice that the UFC would not show Jones or mention him whatsoever as a celebrity guest who definitely was there. Pitiful. Just Dana White's way of putting the middle finger back in the face of boxing once again.

Boxing at an elite level is so much more technical than MMA it's a joke. I'm not a hater but that whole organization makes me just laugh sometimes. A bum can be the best thing since sliced bread and then get clobbered in his next fight. That rarely happens in boxing since the skill involved is so high and it's rare to see freak wins happen out of nowhere.

Then at the same time you have completely predictable matches in MMA.

Lets get a count of who didn't know Griffin would get Ko'd with strikes?

I sure as hell knew, even though I was pulling for Forrest because I can't stand Silva. It was a foregone conclusion and White sold it to allot of suckers to make Silva look good again. **** that BS.

Dana, have Silva face Machida and get the **** beat out of him and be done with it already.

And I don't wana hear anything about them training together and not fighting. They aren't Klitschko's or brothers at all for that matter.

I believe he was special commentator for MMA Live at the time.

Basic Boxing Skills? Oh yes, because MMA guys don't train boxing do they. Total idiot you are! Up our boxing gym there's a pro mma fighter who comes along boxing 5 days a week, 2 hours a time. I bet he knows more about boxing then you will ever know. MMA is just that mixed, you use the best fighting art to win, if boxing is enough to beat other guys who train muay thai, wrestling, bjj then why don't they do people train just that? because they'd get killed.

It is a different sort of boxing, when we box we're just watching out for hands. Silva wasn't just slipping punches, he had to watch for the takedown/kicks/elbows/knees etc.

I think Anderson Silva made a good account of himself in UFC 101. Yes, he is no prime Roy Jones, but he showed his potential.

Come on guys. Last nights fight was 100% worked. MMA now has their own version of the Phantom Punch. Griffen was hit by a soft right jab as Silva was backpeddeling and dropped like someone put a bullet between his eyes.
This is a fighter who has never been known as a big puncher but apparently has been watching watching some old Bruce Lee movies and has perfected the deadly one inch punch. Oh yeh Griffen was then awarded a $60000 bonus for fight of the night without landing one significant blow. Joke UFC=WWE
