I think it is some total bull**** that Johnson has to fight Dawson in Connecticut. Why not somewhere a little more neutral like Atlantic City?

Dawson has made me respect him a little more than what I did by rematching Johnson, and most of his fans are not arrogant. But Johnson is going to be kicked to the curb if he loses this fight. And I think if it goes to decision, he will have done enough to win because of his harder punches and more aggressive style and he will still get ripped off. Johnson has no choice but to take this fight out of the judges' hands.
So now it matters where the "Road Warrior" fights? They're just trying to maximize the gate which, won't even be all that great in CT but damn sure won't be in AC. You're thinking about "neutral" while this is all about money.

You know I am a fan of Dawson. But he scares me a bit because of his round to round inconsistency. Some rounds he either looks like he's gassed, hurt, taking the round off, or is fooling us. He did that **** against Taver too.

Agreed. Whitaker used to do that when he was young as well. Dawson's got the skills but he hasn't quite mastered ring generalship and the pace of the bout. I think he will though - it seems he takes his craft very seriously.

I think he needed that first fight with Johnson. He really showed a ton of heart and a hell of a chin. And he battled through adversity and fought back even when he was hurt.

It was a grueling fight that he can reference back on for inspiration. I wonder if he's going to move more or stand in there in the rematch.

Yeah man, I think Dawson's performance is a bit underrated against Johnson--and is the type that will be of great help the next time he faces a storm. I think Dawson's going to be good for a long time.

You've got a good point there. And I've realized that even before you brought it up. But I still stand by my belief that Johnson has to stop Dawson to win this fight. And isn't it funny that HBO has put this fight off all the way until November? It seems like they are trying to give Dawson any advantage he can get.

You said there was a possibility that the fight might be rescheduled earlier? It's not an advantage to anyone because taking 6 months off (8 months for Johnson) in between fights is ridiculous, f***king ridiculous. Of course the politics and networks had to put this fight on November 7 because HBO has other fights planned for October. This fight needs to be rescheduled to October 10 at least.

If Dawson is legit he should be able to correct some of his mistakes in the 1st fight and win a clear decision this time. If it's close again then he's not a great fighter as many seem to think he is. A great fighter should always be improving in his prime.

The reason I said what I said in my last post is because it is going to give Johnson more time to age. Ring rust can hurt both fighters but you get what I'm saying there. Of course another way of looking at is that by putting this fight off a little bit longer can help it sell tickets. Neither one of these guys sell that well to the casual fan, so giving the fight a little bit of time to marinate probably isn't a bad idea where generating money is concerned. That is one good aspect about having the fight in Connecticut too. But the problem I have with the location is it favors Dawson too much. Even Dawson fans have to admit if this rematch is close, Chad will automatically get the decision unless the powers that be want a trilogy out of these guys.

I don't think HBO had that in mind (Johnson agining) because like what you said the networks aren't to keen on them being able to generate the money they want. So they're delaying the fight to try and hype it up a bit more. My point is the caliber that Dawson and Johnson is they should be given no more than 19 weeks to prepare and it shouldn't matter what the networks think, this fight should be rescheduled earlier.
