But why can't BJ fight a natural cruiserweight, instead of getting a smaller fighter to move up to fight him? There's something WEAK about doing this.

There are LOTS of real cruiserweight opponents to choose from. For example, Troy Ross is looking for a fight.
you know, i agree, i think that he should step it up and fight tougher, hungrier fighters. i think his people are taking him along nicely but i think that this match up moves things a little too slow.

mendoza was picked becuase he's been exciting before, he's had some really good ko's and been ko'd, he's easy to hit, and this might actually give flores another ko, which i think that they're trying to still build him up. but he does need to start fighting better guys, remember, BJ dropped from heavyweight down to cruiser, so fighting a "natural cruiser" isnt that big of a deal, i think it's the quality of the opponent that should be in question, not so much the size............ because a lot of guys that move up dropped so much weigh to fight where they were fighting at.............

never said it was, but what i am saying is and i think we all agree, flores needs to fight better guys, i too believe exactly the same thing as you said, he should at least be fighting the top 15 or at least 20, right!?!?!

well sad to say, this fight is somewhat of a step back, at least in our eyes as boxing fans, and i would say that we're analysts because we study the match making game and are as of right now exposing the fact that an easy fight is being made, avoiding the tougher opposition...........

all im saying is that, the quality of his opponent in this fight is in question, because we all would like to see guys challenged and we all know an easy fight when we see one...........

it's like little league baseball, when the kid who is under skilled steps up to the plate, what do all the kids say in the infield................. " EASY OUT!!!" and that is what we're calling right now with matches like this......

i am in agreement with ya brah!

It would help sell the PPV if Flores was fighting a top 25 cruiserweight.

Showtime has a contract with Mendoza and likely this is their way of getting him 1 last fight and getting him off the books.

With the Super 6 tournament occupying all of Showtime's 168 pounders it's really not that crazy to see how this happened.

I can't stand Flores at all. After a long period of inactivity last year, he was offered a title shot by Adamek on a silver platter- he declined. Shortly after, he was offered a shot by the Enzo Mac- he declined that as well. WTF, is wrong with this guy? In boxing, you're never guaranteed a title shot, and if and when it does happen, you take it...

Adamek offered peanuts for the fight

                Macca gave 2 weeks notice

                NONE of which are tempting..

What do you consider peanuts? Has BJ made more fighting the guys he's been fighting now?

2 weeks notice? BJ was in training when he got the offer. Moreover, this is boxing and late replacements are a part of the sport- you should always be ready to step in...
