Why is BJ Flores fighting a super-middleweight?

On Aug 15, BJ Flores is fighting an opponent who was at super middleweight for his last fight, Epifano Mendoza.

    http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php...9128&cat=boxer

Mendoza is ranked #59 at super middleweight by BoxRec, and has lost 3 of his past 4 fights.

What's wrong with Flores? Why does he refuse to step up and face a top 25 cruiserweight?

Yeah. This is a lame move after becoming the first man to take Jose Luis Herrera the distance.

Flores is never gonna be a top fighter.

        oops miss read the headline.....................

yeah, i am not sure that this is the best kind of fight for him, other than staying active, but im sure there are some tougher guys out there that would be more of benfit to his career........

at first i thought the title was saying that he was fighting at super middle, and i was like, wtf.......... but yeah, just woke up, no worries, i agree that he needs to fight better guys, but as of right now, staying active is most important if big names or important match ups can't be made...........

i like BJ Flores and hope he steps up the game from here on out. nothign wrong with moving at a steady pace........... no need to go fast and crash.........

i don't know if BJ can make 168, if he can cool, but he's a pretty stout guy, i have a hard time seeing him go down to 175 let alone 168..........

          who knows though??????
that isnt really the point... flores isnt going down to fight anyone, the question is why fight someone who is coming up from 2 divisions lower than you, when you are an undefeated CW.... surely you could fight a top 15 fighter in your division.

              He's fighting Mendoza at cruiserweight.

But why can't BJ fight a natural cruiserweight, instead of getting a smaller fighter to move up to fight him? There's something WEAK about doing this.

There are LOTS of real cruiserweight opponents to choose from. For example, Troy Ross is looking for a fight.

This is a simple question to answer.

Mendoza and Flores are both Showtime fighters and Flores is basically a lock for a title shot.

Little risk for Team Flores and Showtime gets to keep it in house.
