Why do most people, mainly those who know very little of the sport think that when a fighter retires he always comes back to the sport because they need money? The fact of the matter is that a fighter is a fighter and when someone is doing something something they love so much for so long it's hard to stay away from it.

Most professional, non-title fights are always contested at a specified weight +/- 2 lbs. This is the norm and it is not considered a "catchweight".

this is the weight he should have BEEN fighting at...Vargas, Castillo, Morales ETC have always KILLED themselves to fight at a weight class they shouldn't be fighting at.

Morales can't beat any of the top guys at 140

At 144 Hatton would tear Morales apart. Erik was a great champion, but this comeback is a joke.

It shows you have no rational or objective judgement. Erik's got nothing to prove, I dont want to see him back because he'll never be what he once was, and he was something very special. To boot, at 144 I think he might get hurt, he's taken a lot of punches and I'd hate to see something happen to him.
Dude is my all time fav, but I couldn't have said it any better.

But, thats what made him the fighter he was. He never knew when to stop.

GTFO Hatein' ass clown!!!! and barrera wasnt humiliated, he came into a round with one of the worst cuts ive ever seen and fought like the worrior he is, kill yourself!!!!!

But seriously, I think Morales is doing the right thing by testing his body and moving down in weight slowly. Anyone who didn't read this fully, he said he would likely end up at lightweight.

And I think there's some misconception that Morales is old or something. He's only 33 years old and he took some much needed time off from a sport that he has given so much to. I'm not saying he'll come back and be the old Morales, but I think people are underestimating what he can still do. They point to his weight being out of control, but those of us who followed Morales know that he was known for gaining a lot of weight in between fights.

I'm excited to see Morales back in the ring. If he can get down to 135 and show that he's still a force, I would love to see him fight Marquez.
even tho he's only 33, he's been in to many wars, WAY to many
