He's taking a tuneup at a catchweight, there's nothing wrong with that. It's not like he's trying to fight at a catchweight for the welterweight title. I mean who the hell would do that.
But seriously, I think Morales is doing the right thing by testing his body and moving down in weight slowly. Anyone who didn't read this fully, he said he would likely end up at lightweight.
And I think there's some misconception that Morales is old or something. He's only 33 years old and he took some much needed time off from a sport that he has given so much to. I'm not saying he'll come back and be the old Morales, but I think people are underestimating what he can still do. They point to his weight being out of control, but those of us who followed Morales know that he was known for gaining a lot of weight in between fights.
I'm excited to see Morales back in the ring. If he can get down to 135 and show that he's still a force, I would love to see him fight Marquez.Comment

He needs to prove himself again. I saw his recent photo and surprised how bulky he is. Hope he lose weight in comfort. I dont want to see another Tito.Comment

This may turn out in two ways.
1) It would prove that there is a lot of fight left in him and all he needed was some time off from the ring.
2) He's all done and the Erik Morales that was so great is not so great anymore.
Either way, he should still be given a chance to prove himself and he's giving all the effort for that. Props to Morales for that.Comment
