Mexicans have never claimed Oscar, even before he beat Chavez. He got even more backlash from Mexicans for fighting Pacquiao instead of giving Margarito a chance to get the torch passed down to him.

David Diaz is American by the way. Not the best fighter in the world, but he is from Chicago. Pacquiao and Roach are also pursuing Mayweather who is not only American, but about as great of slick defensive boxer as you can get.
