Floyd retired before the second De La Hoya fight so I fail to see how Cotto would have a thing to do with why he retired.

After every fight Cotto would be asked who he wanted to fight next and he always used to say 'I will fight whoever my team puts in front of me.'I dont remember him calling out anyone even though the fight was widely demanded.Hatton was asked who he wanted and he mentioned Mayweather,said some rubbish about Floyd who was 'retired' at the time and got what he wanted.

Marquez said the same and even though it sounded crazy at that time because Floyd was retired,there was a weight issue but he got the fight.We cant say it is a Top Rank rule not to call out other fighters because Clottey calls out fighters everyday.

With that in mind,did Cotto avoid the Floyd fight?

Think about it. Out of these 3 (Cotto, floyd and mosley). Who has fought Margarito, clottey, pacman? Cotto fought 3 top welterweights.
