Did Cotto avoid Floyd Mayweather?

Nah. The post that you said opened your eyes said that Hatton and JMM called out Floyd and got the fight. He also said that Cotto didn't call out floyd.

Logical responses:
1) A TON of guys have called out Floyd, so to take those two examples is ******ed. Funny how it happens that both of those guys are perfect opponents and non-threats to floyd. Ever consider that? Maybe cuz Shane isn't an easy fight, he doesn't get the fight when he calls out floyd???

2) Plus Cotto never called out Shane or Clottey and fought them.

After every fight Cotto would be asked who he wanted to fight next and he always used to say 'I will fight whoever my team puts in front of me.'I dont remember him calling out anyone even though the fight was widely demanded.Hatton was asked who he wanted and he mentioned Mayweather,said some rubbish about Floyd who was 'retired' at the time and got what he wanted.

Marquez said the same and even though it sounded crazy at that time because Floyd was retired,there was a weight issue but he got the fight.We cant say it is a Top Rank rule not to call out other fighters because Clottey calls out fighters everyday.

To be fair, they both avoided each other. I hardly ever get on a thread about this subject because I don't like either guy. But I'm going to give it to you like this. After Cotto got a gift decision against Shane Mosley, Arum matched him up in a fight that wasted everybody's time in Alfonzo Gomez. And during the lead up to that fight, he said that he wanted to keep Cotto out of the ring with Floyd because he didn't want to deal with a businessman. So some blame needs to go on Cotto too for this fight not happening, even at 147. I think Mayweather would win this fight handily and I would rather see Floyd fight Mosley or Williams. I even think JMM could beat Cotto and is the tougher challenge for Floyd. It sounds crazy, I know, but there is a reason why he called him out. He's confident he will win. And the reason why I think JMM is an even worse style match up for Cotto than Pacquiao is because of those uppercuts he throws.

arum matched cotto vs gomez so cotto can stay busy and prepare for margarito. floyd retired so the next best option was margarito.
