Why should I? The guy deserves no forgiveness. He is responsible for one of the most brutal incidents in boxing history, maybe the most brutal.
Do You Forgive Panama Lewis

not one bit....resto seems like one of these fighters easily manipulated, and its clear to see lewis has a hold over him, and given that Resto knew there was lots of money on the fight, people saying he will get knocked out, and lewis saying the other kid much stronger so it evens it up, plus he came clean and told us what panama did...makes it easier to forgive, he did one thing wrong and thats cheat in the fight...and he served his time, lots of fighters in the past have assaulted people etc, dont just as bad and served there time and that was that, im not justifying restos actions though what he did was bad. But lewis is a total different propersition, everyone knows lewis is a cheat, even denying he knew nothing about the Asma tablets crushed into water..."give me the bottle, the one that i mixed"...do you really think Resto has the intelligence to think up that technique on his own? so lewis is a liar, its plain to see,..."i went in the toilets to take a p!ss"...idk about you guys, but i dont take a p!ss with a pair of boxing gloves in my hand..Comment

The word forgive is not restricted to the healing of personal injuries via time or through the contrition of the guilty. It encompasses also the willingness of people not directly involved to overlook a debt as defined by social mores and or legal codes. The team perpetrated a crime which exhibited a cold indifference to the life and well being of Collins. His debt has not been paid in the court of public opinion and he has not shown remorse nor has he revealed his complicity, even in part. In the documentary he clearly alludes to his guilt. Sadly, this is academic since he has legally served his sentence; so all that remains is his 'legacy' and his inability to recognize his crime and confess to it.
He ought not ever be forgiven by us. Yet, as you note, JmtRyan, it's ultimately between P.L. and his maker or conscience.Comment

Resto came clean too late. And only after the doc came out. They are both criminals as far as I'm concerned.not one bit....resto seems like one of these fighters easily manipulated, and its clear to see lewis has a hold over him, and given that Resto knew there was lots of money on the fight, people saying he will get knocked out, and lewis saying the other kid much stronger so it evens it up, plus he came clean and told us what panama did...makes it easier to forgive, he did one thing wrong and thats cheat in the fight...and he served his time, lots of fighters in the past have assaulted people etc, dont just as bad and served there time and that was that, im not justifying restos actions though what he did was bad. Even with the Doc Panama is acting like an a**hole. I think that speaks volumes. I think it's also worse cause at the time, Panama was his trainer and father figure. He was essentially Resto's entrance into the world of bigger and better things. I don't doubt this made Resto very easy to manipulate.Comment

Resto enjoyed the fruits of victory as much as Lewis did. He was a grown man and could have walked away like I'm sure many other fighters would have. The excuses for Resto don't wash and remind me of the excuses for Margarito and with the blame solely on the trainer. Resto continued to lie years after when he was no where near Lewis. Resto and Lewis are both ex cons who deserved what they got.Even with the Doc Panama is acting like an a**hole. I think that speaks volumes.
