Why is Floyd getting no credit for fighting JMM?

...And truthfully, I'm one who on a regular basis backs Floyd's accomplishments up. Him beating guys like Castillo and Corrales were great accomplishments.
But I'm sorry, after reading how infatuated kids on this site are about Floyd, it further proves to me they're not real fans. They're just along for the ride. If Floyd had the personality of mule, his Boxing skills alone wouldn't get him by. Keep in mind fellas, there are MANY fighters you will probably never see that are incredibly skilled, strong, etc, but they just never get the chance. You have to have some type of appeal to the public and once Floyd saw the good guy image wasn't working, he went the opposite route and tried to make the public hate him. Why? TO SELL TICKETS...and I honestly thought that was a brilliant idea. But, what is the one thing that can tarnish that aura? Him losing. If you come off and scream about being the greatest and all of a sudden you catch an L, what happens to your bargaining chip? Your gimmick? The reason why people come to see you fight?
THAT is what's made me kind of fall out of being a true fan of Floyd's. He's had the opportunity to fight the Shane Mosleys, Miguel Cottos, Antonio Margaritos, etc to prove his worth at the top level, but he's made a career of choosing the fights that would make his aura that of substance, but when you have fighters there that are looming and HAVE BEEN looming for sometime now with the repeated excuse for not fighting them is "money", where does that leave him with his fight with Marquez on the horizon that has been made a mockery of and a fight 3 1/2 months away (Pac vs Cotto) that is the talk of the Boxing world as is being billed as THE fight of 2009?
And again guys, this is not a diss towards Floyd, I've just realized the dude has possibly thrown away the chance to have some epic fights while they still meant something.Last edited by Ravishing; 08-03-2009, 12:44 PM.Comment

Floyd isn't getting credit because he didn't imediately fight one of the fighters people want him to fight, Mosley, Cotto, or Pac Man. If he'd taken an absolute tune up, fought on regular HBO, no one would have blamed him for taking a tune up, instead he takes on a really good fighter, but makes him come up in weight so its in between a tune up and a tough challenge, I am not a floyd fan, but I give him credit for this fight, its just not the fight people want to see so they're trying to discredit it as a freak show, one sided affair, kinda like the Oscar Vs Manny fight was before it actually happened.Comment
