Personally, I'd like to see them fight every chance I can get. Never a dull second, and always competetive because both are at the top of the sport. What boxing is all about.
So a detached retina and THREE eye surgeries is not considered significant damage? And that's discounting the physical toll of a long line of brutally exhausting rounds in the ring. Dozen fights huh? Yeah, I think you are significantly underestimating what boxing does to a person's body and brain.

i can't believe how many people are opposed to this fight. they're boxers doing what boxers are supposed to do. wouldn't they receive just as much damage if not more from fighting lopez, gamboa, etc.? they both want this fight. if they do happen to finish their carreers with a fourth, at least it happens between the two of them, doing it how they wanted, and leaving with one of the best set of fights boxing has ever had.

Rafa's just trying to get the jump on Izzy and beat him while he's rusty (Vazquez hasn't fought since the 3rd Marquez bout)

and if the fight comes off .. should Rafa win ... a 5th one will be done

as good and exciting as the fights were, IMO too much of a good thing is bad.

** would putting this on PPV be a good seller?

Actually didn't hear about the detached retina, but that could've been done by anyone. Marquez just happened to be the one who was standing in front of him.

I'm not saying that they haven't done each other harm, only that they're both young enough that I doubt anything done is permament, or at least nothing they'll have to live with daily until they get to be old men, but honestly....I'm in the same boat, and wouldn't trade my youth for anything, much less a body free of the aches and pains brought about by my younger years. As far as I'm concerned, they help me remember the days when I was (or at least thought I was) invincible. I thought I was 10' tall, and bulletproof, and nothing could've convinced me otherwise. These two kids are the same, and I say let 'em do as they will. It's their life to live and their body to spend in any way they choose. Why try and deprive them of that? I may be an old guy who's half crippled on really cold days, and need an hour every morning to get so I can move freely, but in my youth, I was one scary dangerous muther****er (and still can be now, when the need arises), and I know exactly how these guys feel. Only difference is that I spent my youth as a soldier and they're spending theirs in a boxing ring.

I say, if it's their choice, let them fight. I'll be one of the first to either get in line to buy tickets, or buy the PPV, and will be reliving my youth vicariously through both of them during the entire fight.

I don't want to see these guys fight again at all. The first three fights were classics. No need for a fourth. I want to see these guys fight other fighters.

These guys are just making their livelyhoods revolve around each other. And someone mentioned earlier that Marquez probably wants this fight to try to catch Vasquez as the more rusty man. That is why I would probably favor Marquez in a fourth fight if they fought. There are plenty of other guys out there to fight. Hell, I'd rather see them give Nonito Donaire a shot rather than fight each other again.
