Like his fight with Byron Mitchell that was a really exciting fight, the 2nd round was one of the more exciting ive seen. Kessler, woodhall, Brewer, Eubank, Reid were also good, simple fact is that most of his fights were one-sided, his competition is always gonna be critiscised and rightly so, but he had quite a few solid wins throughout his career and fought good fighters in the last 2 years of his career, he beat the 2nd best fighter in his division, and then fought and beat hopkins the ring champion in the dvision above, who was clearly past his best but still formidable and on a winning run. Then he dominated jones who was way passed his best but still a threat cos of his speed and power. Love him or hate him he was a great fighter who would have been competitive with the best in any era...imo
that was me but i meant it in a broader sense. it was proven you COULD get him on the deck if you could get to him. but his movement, punch speed, nous and recuperative powers meant you couldnt put him down for GOOD

he wasnt someone who could walk through punches thats what i meant. he used his skills to avoid it as he showed he was susceptible to the odd out of the blue knockdown - just noone had the ability to put him down again

I would wager that just one of Joe's "******ed toddler slaps" would render the thread starter unconcious.

Whatever one may think about JC as a person, you can't deny he was a masterful boxer. And he wasn't afraid of brawling, which is not so common for great technicians. He had a great chin and good stamina too.

            masterful boxer? great technician? LMAO!

his style was incredibly effective but it was also horrifyingly ugly. he employed an awkward style.

there are beautiful unorthodox stylists like RJJ, PBF, Ali, Naseem Hamed... and then there are some really ugly unorthodox styles i.e. calzaghe's style.

wanna watch a technician? watch ricardo lopez. or hopkins. or jmm. or buddy mcgirt. among many.
