A second autopsy of deceased former champion Arturo Gatti will be under way. The Canadian Press report that the Quebec coroner's office has approved the exhumation of the Gatti's body and a second autopsy at at the request of the family. The family has retained an American pathologist who assist with the autopsy over the weekend. The second autopsy was requested after Brazilian police ruled that Gatti committed suicide on July 11 while vacationing with his wife and 10-month-old son. Gatti's 23-year-old Brazilian wife, Amanda Rodrigues, was the prime suspect and was held in custody by Brazilian authorties since July 12. A judge ordered her release after police determined that Gatti was not murdered based on an autopsy that suggested the fighter hanged himself. [details]

With so many mixed stories including the ones she told the police originally, there is no deny something is up. But now with the Brazillian popos on her side and possibly paid off, it's going to be a hard fight if they do throw it back at her being the prime suspect. There's no way she's going back in the locker.Comment

the story about the rock throwing is possible but the purse strap theory is fishy...it must be a strong purse! How much does gatti weigh now? 150-160 pounds & that purse strap is going to hold him? I wear a safety harness everyday & there is alot of force on that purse strap if he's hanging & he also kicked the stool away so that makes the force even greater...I have hard time believing that purse strap could hold his weight especially after he allegedly kicked the stool away...I smell payoff & she is Brazilian.corruption is rampant in that country...he may have been a bad husband but did he deserve to die? I don't think so.one thing I did read thou from an associate of his was that he was finding it difficult to adjust to life after boxing.I hope the truth comes out.Comment

I do not believe the Brazilian police, why would anyone? They have constantly given out conflicting details, and like most "authorities" everywhere on earth, could really care less about anyone or anything (other than increasing and maintaining power), especially things like "truth" "justice" and other hackneyed terms.
There is still the matter of the knife to be resolved for example, let's examine this further, shall we?
First the Brazilian police reported there was a knife next to Gatti and a puncture wound on his head.
Then they reported their investigators determined Gatti's wife stabbed him before she chocked him to death.
Then they decided Gatti committed suicide. Notice they took DAYS to come up with additional details to release.
Now there is no reference, whatsoever, to this knife. It has magically disappeared. The wound on the back of Gatti's head is explained by being hit with a rock that was thrown at him by an unruly mob. Somehow the wound on his head went from a puncture wound to be a blunt wound from a rock. Yea, sure.
How does a man, who was not fat and did not weigh a lot, drink 2 full bottles of wine and 7 beers and have the ability to hang himself?
Gatti as a fighter I have the utmost respect for, I watch his fights in awe. Gatti the man I do not have respect for, he did abuse his wife, and should be alive but in jail right now for picking her up by the chin and throwing her.
Who knows what really happened. Humans suck.Comment

gatti was not broke. i can't imagine a man like him committing suicide in a foreign country. this story is simply incredible.
