If Mayweather beats JMM and Pac beats Cotto then without a ****in doubt it's gonna break records if you think otherwise then you're wrong... it'd be cool to see the Fedor/Lesnor fight and Pac/May fight scheduled on the same night and see what the numbers look likeComment

The reason Oscar vs Floyd did huge numbers was for one reason and one reason only...Oscar De La Hoya. Being his company were the overseers of the entire event, it was a no brainer. That's not to say Pac vs Floyd is going to do lousy, but it won't do 2.4 mill buys. If anything it'll be maybe 1.3-1.5 buys. Considering Floyd's having a tough time selling this fight with Marquez, Pacquiao just came off a Hatton fight that did great numbers, but nothing astronomical.
BTW, UFC 100 is reaching 1.8 mill buys which is one of the highest PPV buys since Oscar vs Floyd. If and when Fedor vs Brock is signed, Dana is going to gather another 2-3 main eventer following it (they're also mentioning a potential Anderson Silva vs Liotto Machita matchup). That PPV without question will go through the roof. I doubt Dana would go head to head with it considering he himself is a Boxing fan and isn't THAT naive, but I believe UFC would pull more buys. Their average PPV buys are something Boxing wish they could achieve in this day and age on a consistent basis, not once or twice a year.
But hey, don't count your chickens before they hatch. Pacquiao isn't guaranteed to come out victorious Nov 14th.Last edited by Ravishing; 07-31-2009, 01:48 PM.Comment
