why do u have Lewis above Wlad in one list and Wlad above Lewis in the other? makes no sense. As much as I'd like to ignore it, LL is a top 10 ATG heavyweight, at least according to his accomplishments. Part of the credit, however, must go to Emanuel Steward for that. Lewis would never be as great a fighter without him, I stand firmly behind that.
10 greatest heavyweights ever IMO:
1. Joe Louis
2. Muhammad Ali
3. Rocky Marciano
4. Evander Holyfield
5. Mike Tyson
6. Joe Frazier
7. Wladimir Klitschko
8. Lennox Lewis
9. Sonny Liston
10. Rid**** Bowe
10 greatest European heavyweights:
1. Wladimir Klitschko
2. Lennox Lewis
3. Vitali Klitschko
4. Joe Bugner
5. Andrzej Golota
6. Ingemar Johansson
7. Zeljko Mavrovic
8. Oleg Maskaev
9. Frank Bruno
10. Henry Cooper

The old Ali vs. Louis for the #1 spot debate continues to this day.
I got no problems with people ranking Ali ahead of Louis ; he had the better resume of the two.
But I felt that Louis' complete domination of any challengers to his throne and title defense record more than evened them out, considering some of Ali's wins were very close and some would say "controversial". (Though I do not agree with the controversy on any of those.)
Louis is also a personal hero of mine and I'd be lying if I didn't say that plays a small factor as well.Comment

Good list..Oops, didn't see you asked what number.
My new list goes like this.....
1.) Louis
2.) Ali
3.) Holmes
4.) Holyfield
5.) Lewis
6.) Johnson
7.) Foreman
8.) Dempsey
9.) Frazier
10.) Marciano
I've recently come to this newer version of my list, previously I had a few guys at alternate spots but after careful consideration I changed it to this.
It's hard ranking these guys sometimes.
Mine would be..
1. Louis
2. Ali
3. Holmes
4. Lewis
5. Foreman
6. Holyfield
7. Frazier
8. Tyson
9. Marciano
10. Liston

Originally before you edited your first post you said he would narrowly miss out on the top ten of all time...no mention of Holmes, Tunney, Jack Johnson, Tyson Fury etc...As much as I'd like to ignore it, LL is a top 10 ATG heavyweight, at least according to his accomplishments. Part of the credit, however, must go to Emanuel Steward for that. Lewis would never be as great a fighter without him, I stand firmly behind that.

Bruno was embarassing in comparison...Comment

Appreciate it.
Liston begins my list of #11-#20 ; but I can see why anybody would rank him top 10 as well.
That's the thing about being limited to a top 10 when it comes to a division with so many amazing fighters through history like Heavyweight ; it's really hard to pick one guy over the other because so many of them were so talented.Comment

Jack Dempsey, Tunney, Jack Johnson all narrowly miss the list. And who da hell is Tyson Fury??!? Is that a pun?lol! We should have an oldies list I think. The pre-WW2 fighters and then the after WW2 fighters and then the newer ones, post Vietnam war fighters.

You never heard of Tyson Fury?? he's so bad ass he uppercuts himself during fights.......Jack Dempsey, Tunney, Jack Johnson all narrowly miss the list. And who da hell is Tyson Fury??!? Is that a pun?lol! We should have an oldies list I think. The pre-WW2 fighters and then the after WW2 fighters and then the newer ones, post Vietnam war fighters.
And btw, Bruno was on the EUROPEAN list, not ATG.
you said that Bruno just missed the ATG list but you edited your post just as I was writing mine...I questioned it for the ATG statusComment
