You make a solid point, however, in all those fights these guys agreed to that weight. Manny signed the contract without any mention of a title, then says he wants the title on the line at 145. Cotto is saying, and he's 100% right about this, that the limit is 147 and if the title is on the line then he wants it to be ALL of the WW division, not just 4 pounds of it. Essentially if the titles on the line then there shouldn't be a catchweight because the division is 141-147, period.

manny signed the contract? when did this happen? i thought all they had was a verbal agreement.

147 is not a division. it is only the max number of a division.

welterweight = 141-147 is the division.

oscar vs hopkins for 160lb title catchweight of 158lbs

pernell vs cesar chavez for 147lb title catchweight of 145lbs

terry norris vs taylor for the 154lb title catchweight of 150 lbs

ray leonard vs tommy hearns 2 for the 168lb title catchweight of 163lbs
(i think, might be lower but catchweight for sure)

ray leonard vs danny lalonde for the 168 & 175 title catchweight of 165lbs
(not sure about exact weight but sure it was under lightheavy & super middleweight)
