Cotto neutrilized their speed by keeping up his guard with both hands and tucking in his chin..which he still did for rito,clottey..so i knows he's coming in this fight with both hands up....he rarely drops his guard to punch (hatton) unless he knows he's landing...Cotto can duck and get low pretty quick..Anytime Mosley or Judah started to get into a 3-4 fast combo..Cotto would swipe the 1st punch and either back up or get low pretty quickly...another good defensive tool he uses is his right hand..i noticed when Mosley/Judah would come with a 1-2 up top he backs up and cover his face with his right glove kinda sideways and leans with his left shoulder out..kinda like mayweather does.

BUT what i would have Cotto focus on is his inside fighting..cuz pacquiao is gonna lunge in with his 1-2's as usual and thats when Cotto needs to get low and attack his body..get Pacquiao to feel the body shots and focus on guarding low...that way in the mid to late rounds Cotto can setup a sweet/killer 3-4 punch combo starting downstairs then end it with left hook and straight right up top... OH YEAH!!!!
    Very good obsevation buddy.

I think Cotto is fine. the only thing I will work with him is walkingg Pacquiao down.

Cotto just needs like you said keep his guard up, but adding pomping his jab 3 or 4 times while walking forward, and then unleasing combianations when ever he gets close!!!!

He needs to focus on applying pressure. Pac is used to working in a comfort zone where he can dart in and out so Cotto needs to take that away.

Im not sure if he wants to try and dominate the jab in this one..cuz pac is faster and could easily come under it with a strong hook or straight left hand..like he did with hatton..BUT at the same time..ALOT of people are forgetting Cottos speed is nice too..mosley had trouble adjusting to it.

I try to analyze the fighters styles and really get a "game plan" on my own for most fights..im that into boxing..lol i wanted to be a boxer but when i actually did train/spar i couldnt control myself when i got hit..id go all mayorga and start swinging crazy!! lol they kicked me out.

Defense. Holdin his gloves at the side of his head all the time won't work wit Pac. Better blockin, better head movement. He gotta learn to clinch better too. Cuz he's fightin a faster guy, he better be prepared to counterpunch. Past that, his power should be the difference wit Pac.

I'd tell Cotto to be consistent and keep jabbing and work the body early and often. I don't think you can really prepare a defense for Pacquiao unless you were born as a technical fighter like Marquez
