if you trained Cotto for Pac fight....

what would you have him focus on? footwork defence stamina and how?

who would be his training partner? I would totally get shane and zab judah.

Would you have it take place at high altitude?

I would do all of the above whatever i could, i would, even if i have to cut into my purse of 3 million.I make sure it was the best training camp ever!

I think he can beat Pac... he needs the eye of the tiger... they think he's a shot down and out bum...no better time to prove them wrong!

Cotto needs to work on punching in this training camp as he won't be able to win if he doesn't punch.

i think he needs to learn to tie up... that is what killed him in the tony fight, and thats how shane beat tony... after cotto lands his big shots he steps back, but he should tie up instead to prevent himself from getting hit so much...

plus i never was a fan of his defense style but i guess thats ok since pacman isnt an uppercut guy....

Hilarious, asking a World Champion to be a punching bag for another World Champion is hilarious, I'm sorry. As far as Zab, well, he's not worthy!

Develop his right, overhand, straight or cross. Lot's of people think his left jab and hook to the body will be the difference, but it's different when you're up against a southpaw. The southpaw's lead hand will always be in the way, plus Pacman is as elusive as an eel.

Show Pacman an incoming left hand and that will lead him to Cotto's right...

Funny to see this thread up this morning...last night i was watching Cotto vs Mosley and Judah to see how he handled their speed since Pacquiao's speed is really the big concern for this fight.

Cotto neutrilized their speed by keeping up his guard with both hands and tucking in his chin..which he still did for rito,clottey..so i knows he's coming in this fight with both hands up....he rarely drops his guard to punch (hatton) unless he knows he's landing...Cotto can duck and get low pretty quick..Anytime Mosley or Judah started to get into a 3-4 fast combo..Cotto would swipe the 1st punch and either back up or get low pretty quickly...another good defensive tool he uses is his right hand..i noticed when Mosley/Judah would come with a 1-2 up top he backs up and cover his face with his right glove kinda sideways and leans with his left shoulder out..kinda like mayweather does.

BUT what i would have Cotto focus on is his inside fighting..cuz pacquiao is gonna lunge in with his 1-2's as usual and thats when Cotto needs to get low and attack his body..get Pacquiao to feel the body shots and focus on guarding low...that way in the mid to late rounds Cotto can setup a sweet/killer 3-4 punch combo starting downstairs then end it with left hook and straight right up top... OH YEAH!!!!

i would say footwork. you need good footwork to keep up with pac, and cotto is not that good, look how easy it was for margarito to catch him time and time again.

Cotto dont throw enough punches period. If he cant match Mannys output he wont win. he needs to work on that and spar with fast south paws.

That could be right, but i think there is something to be said for timed accuracy punches with power.

                    fair enough tho.
