its crazy, you beat a washed up 154lb guy at 147, then you demolish a slow ass, flat footed hatton, and all of a sudden your a pound for pound champion. pleeeeeeeease. Like i said before, this isnt a step up on competition for Manny, its an elevator straight to the top floor. He'll realize the minute he gets hit flush, that he isnt fighting de la hoya. And for everybody who keeps pledging this speed kills ****, there is a way a smart boxer neutralizes speed, its called hard body shots, which if i remember correctly its Cotto's forte. Honestly, if pacquiao didnt have his elusive speed, i dont think he would even have a chance.Could not of said it any more Flawless.
Theres been too much Misinterpretation of both fighters last 3 fights.
So many are ignoring the fact that manny has not been touch by a welterweight year-to-date.Delahoya? couldnt even see the invisible punches coming at him,he was target practice.Hatton? psssshhh what can i say? He was better off wearing a sign saying "open".Bottom line, very big test for pac.Comment

1. "Hatton just got caught by a fast southpaw"" does not remotely touch what happened in that fight. Hatton had his precious few moments in the first 30 seconds or so-- time that he devoted mostly to grabbing and holding, suffering wicked counters for his effort. In the short time that the fight lasted, it was, far and away, a Pacquiao show and the ending was a merciful climax. Hatton was not just caught by a "fast southpaw", he got caught many times, of which, three put him down--two for two KD's in the first round, and the third, for good.
2. It should be welcome news by serious boxing fans that Cotto won't have problems making 145. Who wants to watch a weight-drained, sluggish Cotto face the number 1 pound 4 pound fighter in the world? Besides, who wants to again listen to "weight problems" being raised as post-mortem explanation for fight results?
3. If the author just took the time to check, his belief that Cotto shall have to shed 2 pounds more would have been quickly disabused. Cotto was 146 in his last (vs. Clottey), was also 146 against Quintana and weighed less than the 147 limit against Gomez, Mosley and Judah. In short, Cotto was less than the limit in more than half of all his (8) Welterweight fights.Last edited by grayfist; 07-29-2009, 08:34 PM.Comment
