    Observations about Roy Jones.

Looking at the way he fights nowadays, it doesn't look to me as if he has lost much speed, just he's being less agressive than in the past due to the knockouts, he's been mentally scarred for life. Like against Calzaghe for example, he covered up at times when he didn't even have to, yet if you look at his hand speed it seems as good as ever. What do you guys reckon?

He has lost a lot of his athletic ability but he was so far ahead of everyone else that he's still damn fast. However, his foot speed (which he relied on so much) has slowed to a snail's pace. Even worse, Tarver really and truly ruined his psyche. Mentally, he was never the same.

The only thing Roy has going for him now is fast hands. The man used to fight on is toes, and have great headmovement. Now he fights flat footed and plods, and has no headmovement at all, but rather depends ona Winky style guard. Only problem is he doesn't use it that well, and shots still get through. It was especially saddening watching him lose to Calzaghe, a man he would have undressed in his prime.

Yeah the Tarver and Johnson ko's have made him incredibly cautious but his hand speed still rules as demonstrated in the Sheika fight.

The only speed he has left is in his hands, hes lost his reflexes and his footwork. He was always a cautious fighter so its not like he can just go out and blow guys away. Hes still a tough fight though for most of the guys out there.

He should still have more than enough to get past Lacy, but nowhere near as good as he was. Sorry TS, but I just dont see it.

He has definitely lost foot speed and ability to evade punches, and in tough fights doesn't throw punches like he can and should. He is definitely shell shocked from the Tarver and Johnson KOs.

His legs are where he has lost it. He used to have such fast hands that ppl failed to appreciate what his legs did for him. His legs were so powerful and feet so fast that he could get himself into great positions so quickly that his handspeed would just do the rest for him.

He has lost his legs so he doesn't get in those positions as quickly or as often and therefore his hands (which are still quick, but not as fast as they were say 10 years ago) can only do so much for him.

Against guys that aren't very quick on their feet or with their hands he can still get a job done, but as soon as he comes up against a guy with great movement he is in big trouble, as we saw against Calzaghe. That is why his next two potential opponents - Lacy and Danny Green - are pretty good matchups for Roy.

He can continue to win a few more fights against near-top level opposition providing he continues to choose his opponents well. For instance, Chad Dawson would murder him.

This is 100 percent accurate here. I'll add that his stamina is not what it once was either.
