Serious question, no trolling. When I saw the undercard for Pacquaio-Cotto, I was blown away. Then I thought, there is no way that this card would be this good if the Floyd-JMM card wasnt loaded. Now I heard some critics say that Floyd and them are just doing it because the fight cant sell on its owh. Again, this is not a troll thread for me so I wont even argue against that stance. I will just say that regardless of the reason, he is doing it. You might say that its GBP thats doing it but havent they had a million cards? How many of them were loaded? Both Golden Boy and Top Rank are known for having the worst undercards ever and its a big reason why the UFC is so popular over Boxing right now. Floyd is bringing it back with these loaded cards. He's doing what the UFC does. YOu know it was Floyd's idea because the 1st fight that they thought of was Zab vs Hatton. NO one at GBP wouldve thought of a Zab fight.
You guys also know that there is no way that Arum wouldve loaded his undercard if the didnt see them doing it for the JMM-Floyd fight. Arum has had some of the worst "headline" PPV's and he didnt even stack the undercard then so you know he wouldnt stack a undercard when he has a major fight like Pac vs Cotto unless he saw Floyd and Golden Boy do it. This is a big step in saveing boxing. Then after that I thought about something else. Whats the other #1 thing in boxing right now besides the fighters? Its 24/7. You can say what you want about Pac and even Floyd himself but what really made them into mega stars was the 24/7 series which everyone admitted that Floyd started. He came up with the idea. Oscar was a huge star and Floyd had a solid name but no way they break records without 24/7. Pac & Hatton had solid names but no way they wouldve given a 24/7 series to 2 non Americans if Floyd didnt make it so popular. Its basicaly like a movie now. People love the show more then the fight itself. Its like an event now.
The bottom line is that argubaly the 2 biggest things in boxing right now and the 2 biggest things that can save boxing, make it bigger than UFC, and make it an elite sport again is having loaded undercards and the 24/7 series and both of these things are basically being brought about because of Mayweather. Again, this is a serious topic. No matter how much you hate him, you have to give him some credit for this. Again, you cant dare say that it was Golden Boy or Top Rank because they havent done it any other time. Even as Pac is blowing up now, the 1st thing that comes out of everyone's mouth is them thinking about a match with him & Floyd. After Pac killed Hatton and became a mega star, they talked about him on every TV show the next day, and every single show ended by talking about a match with Mayweather. We know that Floyd will "probably" beat JMM and if Pac beats Cotto then he is an even bigger Super Star but still everyone will be talking about him vs Floyd and how everyone wants to see it and how it will break records. Thats what we talk about non stop on these boards and thats what the media is talking about. I actually think that if Pac & Floyd continue to win then its probably a great thing that they didnt fight because its making everything build into a mega fight which would destroy records, e****ally with the "24/7" series that I bet will be 6 episodes long for that fight, and e****ally with the "loaded undercard" that I bet it would have. NOt only that but no one in boxing even wanted to be on a undercard but I bet that it will start to change and alot of good fighters will want to be on those undercards for that exposure in the future. Seriously, you have to give Floyd some props for that
