Alot has been said about peoples champ manny pacquiao's 2 losses. Some say he can be stopped since he was KOed in his losses while others say he doesnt have a good chin like Erik Morales since his defeats to Barrera were by SD.
I doubt even the pac fans know the real story behind Mannys two losses. His first loss came at the hands of Rustico Torrecampo when he was just a scrawny 17yr old. During the weigh-in Pacquiao was over the limit so was ordered to wear heavier gloves by the promoters. According to them it would balance the fight since it would lessen the impact of pacquiaos punches. During the 2nd rd, Pacquiao landed a left hook to put Torrecampo to the canvas but was barely able to beat the count. AS desperation sets in for Torrecampo during the 3rd rd, he throws a hail mary punch that landed on pacquiaos chin. Pacman never got up. Pacquiaos camp desperately asked for a rematch but Torrecampo having tasted the power of pacquiao avoided another confrontation and after a year decided to hung his gloves at the age of 25.
Pacquiao won his first belt when he was 19 when he beat Thai ring idol Chatchai Sasakul (whom i believe was the best fighter to come out of Thailand) by KO at round 8 to win the WBC Flyweight title. Although I personally think he was taught a lesson in technical boxing skills by Sasakul.
His next loss was inflicted by Medgoen Singsurat at the age of 20. Mannys body was fast growing and couldnt anymore hold the scales at Flyweight. During the weigh-in, Pacquiao was again over the limit and was stripped of his belt. He lost the title even before stepping a foot inside the ring. At that time, he was the sole champion from the Philippines, leaving the flywt division and reliquishing the belt would mean that his country wouldnt have any world champs, thats why his handlers tried to overworked and dehydrate pacquiao in a futile attempt to make the limit. Fight time came and Pacquiao was destroyed by body punches in the 3rd rd. He lay on all fours and it was clear he had no energy left.
Pacquiaos next fight was 3 weight classes higher at Super Bantamweight. His trainer was afraid that he would lose his advantage of punching power in the lighter divisions but to everyones surprise Pacquiao became even stronger after fighting in his natural weight. His KO percentage was higher than ever. He was then brought to the US where he met his trainer Freddie Roach who taught him how to throw his straight left at wicked angles and improved his defense. The rest is history.
Nobody can beat this guy as long as he's fighting at his comfortable weight. Now you know.
