How is Arthur Abraham actually pronounced?

For some reason, because of his German connection, I'd always said it in a European tone like "Arr-tur Ahh-bra-haam" (A rhymes with "car") instead of the usual "Aybra-hamm" (A rhymes with "day").

    How should it be said?

True to some extent, but that's not to say there isn't disparity. Hence why I asked.

Well jeez, man. What with some of the **** threads that have been doing the rounds for months, this one's a good change of pace. Even for just one night.

So they've kinda Westernised it like with Wladimir and such? Cool. I just wanted to check if it's OK to use the German "Ahh-bra-haam", since I keep hearing "Aybra-hamm" everywhere.

Wladimir is not westernized though, however we use Wlad for short and in Russia/Ukraine it is Wova.

But that's how Armenians pronounce their name aswell....so you're doing the right thing.

I always thought it was? From Volodymyr (Ukrainian) and Vladimir (Russian)...? For a time I actually pronounced the W in Wladimir, though. :laff2:

Volodimir is ukrainized version of Wladimir, and is common to western urkaine more then central and eastern. taking into account that Wlad is from Kiev, which is part central part eastern, his name is actually Wladimir, which is the same as Vladimir, pretty much.
