Vernon, Alexis, Gatti, now this guy. I mean WTF? MMA is looking so much more safe than boxing. The problem it seems to me is that everyone seems to want to become a pro boxer these days and this is doomed to happen if numbers are high enough

One may ask "Why is mma safer if it is way more brutal (apparently)?" The answer is simple. The knockdown.
In mma a knockdown means your fight is over. A knockdown lets not forget in the way of your brain saying "ok, this guy doesn't know what he's doing, i'm out!".
In boxing you are allowed to continue after even several knockdowns. Another added danger are the gloves! Their only propose is HYPOCRITICAL: You see, boxing moguls like to call this a "gentlemen sport" and too much blood all the time would not please their sick minds. But the problem is, the energy not spent in cutting the skin is still there and BUILDS UP AS EXTRA PRESSURE GOING SOMEWHERE, you guessed it, the brain. And not seeing external damage makes the fighters usually continue to take a brain beating usually much longer than they should.
