**** merchant...and **** manny steward...can't stand either one...don't get me wrong...larry brings knowledge to the table...but he let's his emotions tell him how the fight goes...blah blah honor...blah blah respect...steward just get's on my nerves...

oh and i fux with atlas...just not on the ring side commentating...i go to him for the whole fight breakdown and fighter analysis...he's on point with that...

harold letterman is also an honorable mention...dude knows his **** and always points out the most and no so obvious things going on...i fux with letterman...

you should have added roy jones, george foreman, etc.

roy isnt exactly trained for the job but he has good knowledge on the intricacies

i think the fighters prefer a fighters commentary especially from someone like roy jones, bhop, etc.

I like Merchant more than Lampley, but Lampley is the blow by blow guy that carries the broadcast. HBO fights wouldn't be right if he wasn't there anymore.

I prefer Ian Darke to Lampley, Lampley nuthuggs way to much. Not that Darke doesn't nuthugg but during the fight he will call it like it is, unlike Jim.

Well not exactly. I had Jones Jr. on there along with Lewis but I could only put 10 choices so I took out the boxers. I feel the others have more credibility as commentators.

Been meaning to make this thread for a while now. Like the question states, who do you prefer commentating during the fights you watch. Would you rather have an exciting voice, pumping up the fight as it goes on, or would you rather listen to someone break down the fight?

NOTE: Since you're only allowed to have 10 choices, I omitted Lennox Lewis, Bob Papa, and Gus Johnson.

You kind of need more than one voice.. Maybe best duo would be better. You can't just say a blow by blow man is more important than an analyst.. They serve different purposes, it's a bit like apples and oranges.
