  • Most Creative "Monikers" in Boxing.

We all know about the classics.

    "Marvelous" Marvin Hagler
    "Hands of Stone" Roberto Duran
    "Sweet Pea" Pernell Whitaker

    etc
    etc
    etc

But it seems like either the well has dried up some or noone has really had the imagination or motivation to come up with new creative monikers in boxing.

Lately i've been watching some MMA and noticed that whether they're relevant to the division they're fighting in or not....some of these guys have some really creative monikers.

    George "Rush" St Pierre
    "The Prodigy" BJ Penn
    Ryan "Darth" Bader

Can anyone list some boxers with some really good monikers today or elaborate on why there is a lack of them in boxing lately?

Manos de piedra and el terrible are some of the classics we all know of. Kid dynamite and el matador though are monikers that have been recycled over and over throughout boxing's history.

              i hate boxers or athletes in general who steal already taken nicknames;

              flash (elorde)
              nigerian nightmare (okoye)
              dream (hakeem)
              raging bull (lamotta)
              sugar (robinson)
              boom boom (mancini)
              cobra (hearns)

all these nicknames are already taken & yet are still being re used by todays fighters.

              not right.

Pretty Boy Floyd Mayweather (Money Mayweather aint too creative)
                  Bernard "The Executioner" Hopkins

Bad Intentions aint bad although Jermain hasn't shown that much in his recent fights...

Real Deal Holyfield always sounded good...
