Floyd has to fight a top ww to make that claim. He sure has the skills but chooses to go after the money. The top money maker doesn't make you the best. Just because you are blessed with so much skills don't mean your the #1 guy in the division, you have to fight for it to earn it, is not something that is given.

Honestly until some one beats Floyd i look at him as the top of the ww,Pacman is no even in the discussion at 147 maybe at 135-140 but not at 147.

if this is the case he will be champ forever without even defending it. last ww fighter he fought was baldi. since then he fought brass boy @ 154, hatton moved up from 140, jmm moved up from 135 & he probably will fight pacman next & he @ 140.

eventualy he gon get stripped anyway or retired again once people say he needs to defend it.

Following this writer's logic, if Mayweather were to lose to Marquez then by logical extension Marquez would be the lineal WW champ. Not buying it. When you retire and give up claims to your respective titles, you're no longer in the mix. Mayweather was a great champion but he cannot stage a come-back against a Lightweight and lay claim to still being the WW champ. He should, at the vey least, challenge a true, top 10 WW in order to give credence to his claim. Just my opinion.

Floyd's never fought a Welterweight above B-level. Cotto has fought the far better opposition.

I also feel Floyd is the greatest talent who has chosen not to fulfill his potential. Skill-wise, he's light years above anybody. Even after nearly two years away from the ring, most boxing fans have to admit that so long as he comes out of retirement, he's the man you have to beat in order to claim the WW throne.

But this goes the other way too. He can talk all the **** he wants, but unless he takes on the top welters and beats them, he's not a true champion either. And definitely not an ATG.

Floyd needs to face the fact that Green (his sole focus) does not automatically confer Greatness.

On to the point though; someone please slap Mayweather. Your not the champ when your retire and comeback a year later. Hell, your not even ranked top 50 p4p. Not even ranked top 10 at WW.

I like Mayweather but when you retire you gotta work your way back up. It's not just given to you. Specially not in a stacked division like WW.
