I know man but you gotta know the consequences. Chasing him would be something some nerdy guy on vacation that has no idea what the street is like would do. When you grow up in bad areas like this you almost always expect the worse therefore you be as cautious as you can be. I could understand if you were say in laguna hills, or beverly hills and some little teenagers 120lbs soaking wet run off with your wallet and you give chase. But in atlanta in the middle of the night, you're alone, some guy gets off a car and approaches you takes out a gun and makes off with your wallet and you still give chase??? It's clear murder was not the motive or they would have killed him point blank and taken his wallet. The fact that he gave chase brought on a whole new string of events. Sad story man! I've seen too many people die over ****** **** in my young 27 years of life. Most recently a guy I knew came across a guy he didn't like over ****** reasons. When that guy was casually walking buy him my buddy slapped him across the head. The guy then took out a knife and stabbed him to death. Both my buddy and the guy that killed him were idiots that night. There's just **** you don't do! Leave that **** to the hardcore gang****ers, the drug cartels, these are the people that run around living life on the edge and risking their life day in and day out over money drugs or whatever.

For those that are somehow putting the responsability of Forrest just becuase he went after a criminal... it's sad and pathetic. The responsability lies on the hand of the guy/gal that pull the trigger and knowingly took the life of one of his victim for a wallet.

This had nothing to do with Forrest being rich or his rights to own a firearm for protection. This has to do with the criminal elements that while never wants to sacrifice his time to make a honest living.... prawls in order to take from those that actually do the hard working.

Forrest is here a victim and his only crime was to be succesful enogh to have something wanted by a scumbag that deserves to have his life taken the same way he/she took.

Shame of you guys for putting this on Forrest....

I got on him earlier too but I said that we have to hear the full story. Now hearing it, you cant rip him for that. Alot of times its just a natural reflex if someone snatches after something of yours then you chase him for it. He probably had alot of important cards and stuff in his wallet. Sure it seems meaningless now but it was probably just a reflex. He probably felt that he had the upper hand on the suspect since he was coming from the suspects back and he had his own gun. Whats strange is how a pro athelte like Forrest lost the suspect. He had to be right behind the dude. Still, a very cowardly act to ask for some money, receive it, steal his wallet, then come back and kill the man. In the back for that matter. Thats an ultimate coward and they should get the death penalty

I think he may have had that intention all along anyway. It's hard to say how the event played out. We'll have to let more details come out. I think it is possible that the robber was afraid for his life and felt like he had to ambush Forrest or his life would be endangered. That's the best conclusion I can come to. But then again who drove the red Monte Carlo? Obviously it looks like more than one accomplice was involved.
a cold blooded killer if he wanted to would kill you the first chance he gets! If they wanted to kill forrest he would have shot him point blank and ran off with the wallet if this is what it was. it wasnt he had a gun and grabbed the wallet and took off running. Forrest gave chase and they exchanged fire. At this point plan a which was to steal a wallet is thrown out the trash. The robber is now himself fighting for his life so now this whole event is escalated and both the robber and now forrest are going to kill the other before they get killed.

                  I couldn't agree more.

What is eerily strange is that Vernon faced a similar situation in the past and gave chase (among other things) over a hat at that time.

What could possibly have been the lesson to learn there?

In any case, it was a senseless incident and whoever committed the murder will be caught soon.

                    1) You can get stuck up in the Whitest of White suburban neighborhoods. **** happens. It's a ****ed up world.

                    2) MANY pro athletes carry weapons on them, exactly for the reason you'd expect. Them being high profile athletes they are a target to bad people.

Sounds to me like the whole thing was scoped out. Doesn't sound like a case of someone just happening upon Vernon Forrest and then deciding to rob him.
