Man, this is just a fucked up time to be a fan of boxing.

First Arguello, then Gatti, now Forrest.

I literally just heard about this.

I was on the couch, watching CNN, and saw it on the "ticker".

I haven't read through any of the other threads but I can't believe some people would be low enough to try to pin this on Vernon.

Some lowlifes tried to carjack him, he stood up against them like a man, gave chase, and ended up dead.

And people want to **** on that?

    Ridiculous.

    I was a genuine fan of Forrest's.

He was a great fighter, and a greater human being with the way he would volunteer his time, and money to work with the mentally challenged.

I'm at a loss for words.

    R.I.P. Champ.

But that's the reality. If you have never been in that type of situation you can't relate. There is no script to a robbery situation. You act off of impulse. You make rational thoughts after the situation has passed.
In a really heated situation, you lose control over your ability to make a rational decision. Emotion overwhelms your entire body, and sometimes you make a rash decision.

Only those who have truly been there can understand what I'm talking about.

Which is why I understand why some people are blaming Forrest ; they've never been there.

I got robbed for my coat once.
i was walking home around 2am from a friends house when two guys came up
behind me and said, "give up the coat".
A big black guy and a tall white or mexican guy.
At first I tried to run but the tall guy caught me by my collar.
I turned around pushed the tall guy away and swung on the black guy and tried to take him down but he was to big.
The tall guy jumped back in and kicked my legs out but I pulled him down with me where I kept fighting with him.

Anyway the next thing I know the black guy had a gun to the back of my head.
            Gave it up quick.

I don't think a lot of these cats innerstand that "ill eat your food" mentality. Keepin it 100, back in the day I might have sold weed, and This old head wanted to see what I had, I may have handed the bag over, he kept it and said "im going to hold this for you" , I said thats mine ni99a you owe me, he put his hand out like "halt" , and he called his pitbulls off the stoop, I couldnt do anything, and from then on every cat tested me. Bad story to compare but you get the idea.

In the heat of the moment i agree its quite likely i might have done the same or something ******, but fact is its not his fault. These ****ing scum cowards should go earn a living rather then stealing and ****, it's there fault Vernon a great warrior in the ring has died.

Im so sick of this ****ing gun and knife crime people shouldn't be afraid to go out or be out looking over there shoulders 24/7 cause some sick coward might want to kill or rob them..

This is what people should be focusing on the fact that a great guy has died and then after mourning. Look at how he died i.e ****ing guns this time could just have easily been knifes..

                RIP Vern

If you carry a gun then chances are you will get shot.
This is a sad story but just emphasizes the utter ******edness of the USA's "Right to bear arms".
Nothing herioc in shooting someone or getting shot, it's just tragic.

If Forrest hadn't scared the crooks off with his gun they probably would have taken off with the car and with the kid in the backseat.

Vernon made the right move, it just didn't turn out in his favor.
